Suggestion for the search field

This really bothers me.

For example, today I wanted to perform a search with "sex" and "war" keywords. Because they are both only 3 characters long, the search won't go through. Similar stuff happened yesterday, I think I wanted to search for "reproductive choice", but in relation to men. Because "men" is only 3 characters long, it was "no can do carnal"!

Can we set the limit to 3 characters, not 4 as it is now?

it's intended to not clutter the system with minor searches... the human eye recognises four items at once (that's why a tally is four long, and the fifth is struck across diagonally), it's a nice number (4) to work with, but i agree, in this forum it doesn't work.

When using the Fulltext search, this option limits the size of words that may be searched for. Smaller words take longer to search for as they are more common. MySQL Fulltext has its own minimum word length as well that must be changed at the server level.
I'm not sure of the server's minimum word length - so it MAY cause a problem... it's been changed this side of things though, so we'll just have to see how it goes.
