Newport men charged with 'gunpowder plot'

At least one of these names will be familiar to members of the 'new' f4j

Newport men charged with 'gunpowder plot' (From South Wales Argus)

TWO Newport men appeared in court yesterday charged with an alleged "gunpowder plot".

Matthew Starmore, 30, and David Hodge, 46, both of Corporation Road, Newport, were remanded in custody after they appeared at Newport Magistrates Court.

The pair are accused of possessing explosives - smokeless gunpowder - for unlawful purposes as well as 23 rounds of soft-round bullets.

Starmore and Hodge were both charged with separate charges of tendering stolen cheques.

Hodge is accused of tendering cheques of £1422.95 and £644, while Starmore is charged with tendering cheques worth £846 and £630.

Hodge is also charged with stealing a mailbag belonging to Acorn Glass, Newport, containing a cheque book.

Starmore has been a Welsh co-ordinator for Fathers for Justice, the group lobbying for divorced fathers' access rights.

It is alleged that he had helped to set up another venture called 'New Fathers for Justice', but he denies any recent involvement.

It is also claimed that the police discovered a red diary containing references to "the most dramatic and climactic series of events to hit Wales since World War Two.

Chairman of the magistrates John Jenkins sent the matter to Newport Crown Court to be heard on November 12.

Police said the two men were arrested on Friday October 30, 2009.

    Dramatic?

What? Like shit hitting the Aber-Fan?

This smells of a set-up to me, like the hearsay 'overheard' plot to kidnap Tony Blah's son.

And what is this strange '23 soft-round bullets' bizzo? For soft targets like effigies ? Where's the FMJs ?

    And 'smokeless gunpowder? WTF?

I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it.
But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up.
    I am outnumbered.
    But...
YOU don't just make a difference,
    you make THE difference.

Re: Newport men charged with 'gunpowder plot'

I find it particularly sad that there is a rivalry between real father 4 justice and new fathers for justice..

Even sadder that this rivalry seems to be based on one group doing actions, and the other group just slagging them off, while doing nothing action wise, or at least not that I have been made aware of..

If you want an activism based, on the edge, fathers group that takes on the state child abuse racket, then you have to accept that some folk may push the lawbreaking at bit far, or perhaps not all "members" will be squeajy clean..

If you want to be a sit around group that does nothing and sucks up to the state, then join the premier state-funded uncle tom group Families Need Fathers..

Who have probably done more to ensure the family law remains shite by backing the statist approach and recommending lawyers than the state could ever do on its own..

    sad..

    very sad..

    What rivalry is that?

This is the same guy who phoned the police in advance of the Geoff Hibbert trial, resulting in some of us being barred from the public gallery.

There are very few guys willing to do anything and no new blood, especially after others are getting jailed, the only enquiries that are generated are those seeking advice on personal cases

Rffj had been in talks with several new f4j members, there was talk of joint action amongst the few that were willing.

This guy was one of the few that chose to plough their own furrow instead of joining forces and listening to more experienced activists on how to go about organising action, not only that but he actively sabotaged work done behind by the scene by others.

I posted this in the stupid section because that's what he is, very stupid.

And passing stolen cheques if proven will only blacken the the f4j name further.

Re: Newport men charged with 'gunpowder plot'

Thanks for adding that info. I dont know who the bloke is but I am aware of the very frustrating kerfuffles that have been going on as new f4j have been trying to get themselves established.. The "old" f4j is obviously no more..

One hears rumours of stuff, but no detail, so one is never sure what is going on, but one suspects it is just the same old stuff.. Folk doing their own thing without considering the others and the effects..

Hopefully the leaderships of the groups will stabilise and gain the respect of their followers soon so that progress can be made towards working together and unity in actions whenever that is desired and feasible..

If individuals go their own way, then that is their concern and I am sure no group will accept responsibility for fraudulent activity or THAT sort of criminality..

Its not like the fathers groups are MP's or something..

I am sure that the leadership do not turn a blind eye to incidents of corruption etc in their members..

Indeed, it has always been very much the case that the fathers 4 justice group have had a sharp eye on many such incidents, usually relating to financial matters..

I personally think that the "radical" fathers groups should not use the court system at all, and should not concentrate so much on using the system for adressing personal cases, as this destracts very much from the whole purpose of the groups..

The lack of "new blood" is a direct consequence of the lack of actions that are going on and the lack of media, lack of effective leadership, etc..

Its a loop that is not easy to get out of but if the fathers for justice groups are to progress then for sure they are going to have to get back on the streets and do what the public expects of them..

Public support is good, but they aint gonna come banging on the door are they?

Unless they want advice on playing the corrupt system..

And these folk are not usually the right sort of folk who do actions are they?

USing the system validates it.. So it should not be used!!

The system is crap. It needs to be put under systained attack and retreated from..

If fathers stopped using the family courts entirely, then the system would move itself pretty damned fast towards what fathers wanted you can be sure!!

The lawyers and other state sector parasites need blood to survive..
