For the kids of today's single mothers, I think a stepdad who likes kids and gets to know them before committing to the relationship is a better bet than someone who wants to jump Mom's bones and may treat the kids as an inconvenience to be endured.

I'm not positive that this is what she meant, although I'm going to take a stab at it. There have been child molesters who have actually gone on record as to say that they purposely chose single mothers to date because it made the access to kids that much easier.

I scarcely think that all - or even most - men who date single mothers are child molesters however, many times child molesters will date single mothers.

Although, yes, the type of step-dad you referred to is a Godsend - I know, because my daughter and I got lucky enough to find one of them.

Just to clarify, I wasn't by any means implying that most men who pursue women who have children are potential pedophiles. Far from it.

However, it is proven that pedophiles do pursue relationships with women who have children. And to be so absolutely public about it with this show "normalizes" the behavior.

So not only do we have mothers not putting their childrens' needs ahead of their own wants, we are presenting single mothers as desirable choices, which only paves the way for the type of pedophile who finds his victims in this way.

(I know there are female pedos, but this show is about single mothers, and I didn't see anything about lesbians being involved.)

I think this is a good idea. I think it is also just a show and a way to make money out of society that is modern or at least interesting.

A man told me when I was 19 that the way to a single mother is through her children. I had very smart men to teach me how the world works.

I will never forget this one man who dated lots of single mothers. But the thing was he loved the children more than the mothers. Poor mothers. He had a train, yes, a real train with tracks going around his house. He bought kids gifts, lots of gifts.

There are heaps of men out there like this who are not child molesters. Just look to groups like the Lion's Trust and other groups that really care for disadvantaged children.

I am sick of men being put down as molesters. I was raised in a single parent home since I lost my father and then as an orphan when I lost my mother.

I had a childhood friend who I think may have been molested by a temporary father figure n her life (her mom was divorced). I am still curious about the statistics on pedophiles preying on single moms, KellyMac. Never heard of that before (though it seems logical). Although I doubt a serious pedophile would sign up for a reality show in order to pursue his 'illness'. A little to public, I would think.

I am sorry this happened to you. And to your friend.

I have a close male friend who I think will never come right. Even though he deserves it. His mother was mad, err, is mad. And there are other women the same. Mothers do bad things to kids too. But if we start condemning all mothers this way or all women, then where do our girls role models come from?

I think we must always remember that a paedophile now is any male who had sex even with his girlfriend when she was underage. A false rape charge will do it too.
