Ah well man. It just drives me batty that people can treat people who save lives everyday like crap. It's like here in the UK we have people who find it amusing to attack Ambulance workers and Firefighters as they are trying to save lives, It's so bad in some areas that Ambulance and Fire crews won't go near unless they have a Police escort. So if you have a heart attack in a bad area you're up shit creek unless there is a Police car on your door step.

Re: (Female) Swimmers drive disabled Iraq war veterans out of pool
Indeed! Firemen work to save people and our homes. Their jobs are quite different from blue gun thugs who 1. rob travelers on highways, 2. take children from families, 3. work to send men to hellhole prisons, and 4. protect the tyrannical government. They two should never be lumped together. Firemen are real heroes.

Re: (Female) Swimmers drive disabled Iraq war veterans out of pool
There really aren't any. The feminists have forced some fire brigades to accept female employees with lower physical standards, but they tend to congregate in nice safe office jobs. For example, out of the several hundred firemen who died in the World Trade Center after having rushed into the fire, no females were among their numbers. The FDNY Affirmative Action females had all stayed back at their nice safe firehouses and offices.
There are NO firewomen. There are only firemen.

My boyfriend is a retired US Marine (20 years in)...and currently a firefighter. He's told me stories about both his service in the military and fighting fires that would curl your toes. He's had to go in after plane crashes and recover bits and pieces of people from the plane wreckage and off of roads...and he's rescued many. He's a tough guy but sometimes to this day he has flashbacks.
He's a hero, and so are others like him.

an illustration of the insular button down minds of those fatuous women so typical and endemic in the west nowdays - they are the centre of their universe and don't want nasty, disabled veterans to intrude

Re: (Female) Swimmers drive disabled Iraq war veterans out of pool Now,
Let's be real here for a second, I am not down on Female Fire-fighters that have come up through the ranks and have done good work.
One of my fellow Senior Station Officers here is a female, she has been in the brigade as long as I have, I will and always take orders from her at her incident, if she is Officer In Charge of that incident, she is as good as me and we did our "time " more or less at the same time.
All I want is competent Officers at a given incident, I don't care what sex they are!
After 19 years in the Fire Service, Ann has truly done her time, we have been to some bloody big fires together.
But, some of the women looking to join the Fire Service here these days, don't have the same metal that Ann has, some of the men are similar, can't use basic tools like spanners, we just say goodbye to them.
We put all fire-fighters through a rigorous course in Wellington lasting 9 weeks, to send a person there that will not last would be a waste of money.
Some people seem to think that being a Volunteer FF isn't that difficult, we have a lot of women turn up here, because the Work and Income people send them here for "Community service" to apply for a Domestic Purposes Benefit, most are sent the other way, because they are just too fat and un-fit for the hard work that Fire-fighting requires.

You see folks,
This is were Equal Oppurtunities in Employment has got it all WRONG.
EOE, should be saying that if you wimmin want to be equal, get the hell into the armed forces and on THEIR terms, not some wishy-washy feminist version of it, because you all know as well as I do, that, once women go into the services, in any great numbers, everything, the likes of training, leave, working conditions, etc are going to be skewed towards the "woman soldiers" and at the detriment of the male soldiers.
On a combat field, there is no male or female, merely people of one side or another.
OT,
I remember back in PE (physical education) at secondary school, us guys had to do 20 press-ups (on your knuckles) and the girls only had to do 10, with their hands splayed out and they could do them with their knees on the ground.
Weren't us men sold down the creek?
Mind you, they never lost any weight though.
