Question The Art of being a man

Looking like a man is one thing, being treated like a man is another entirely different thing.

    Quote:
They may have been having a girly giggle but it was serious men's work.
About eight Wellington women turned up to a workshop on Saturday to learn the art of being a man.

Everything from creating the perfect moustache to characterisation, and "binding and packing" was taught to the women, before they all took on their manly personas.

The DragKings troupe held the workshop, and member Val Little, aka Kamp David, said it was a big hit.
"The people that turned up were really into it. There are a lot of really talented women out there."

The 44-year-old has been cross-dressing for eight years, and said it was a great way to experience life in someone else's shoes.
"It's really for the exploration of gender stuff and just playing around with that."

A mental health worker by day, she said it was also good stress relief. "It's a very nice balance actually, keeps me sane."
The comedic troupe has been performing around Wellington for about eight years.

Member Andy Harness, aka Daddy, 43, said the workshop was a chance to have some fun, and for prospective members to check out the group.
Groundsperson Carolyn Morris, 40, said it was great fun taking on her 1970s Austin Powers-like persona Scotty and she was now considering auditioning. "I'm just trying to think about what character I'd be."

Yes, it's all fun and games being a man, isn't it?

Re: The Art of being a man

    Let us not lose perspective.

Yes, it is a bit of a giggle but 'serious men's work' it isn't.

There is a lot that can be said for 'walking in another's shoes', taking on their roles etc. Dressing-up is more like the way to describe this 'giggle'.

I had the privilege of 'working' with Ghurka soldiers in the jungle. Every year these fierce and incredibly tough little men would go back to their Himilayan villages and take their womenfolk's roles for a three-day 'ritual'. They would dress as women and do all the household chores and child caring chores. The wives, of course, did not go off overseas for three days and fight enemies in appalling conditions, but there we go !. Instead they would sit around drinking and chatting.

These Wellington women would be better encouraged to do their cross-dress game for two or three weeks, rather than one evening, doing the hard work their menfolk do and being treated in the appalling way most men are treated every day. And I hope they enjoy their y-fronts.

I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it.
But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up.
    I am outnumbered.
    But...
YOU don't just make a difference,
    you make THE difference.

I didn't think wimyn needed any extra ecouragement or lessons they appear to have arrived some time ago

They call this walking in a man's shoes? Nonsense.
Crossdressing is simply not anything like the real deal (I should say verdict...), it doesn't shows them anything about the hardships gender biassed laws and double standards bring with them.

Nope, it is not. But it doesn't takes much thought to conclude that dressing like a man is not the same as living like a man.

There was a woman a few years back who disguised herself as a chap and lived as a chap for a longish time, to 'expose' men. That was her intent. To write a book about men and their crudities and what they say about women when women aren't around.

She wrote a very different book with much sympathy for men and much praise for their acceptances of the shitty lot that life dealt them.

She managed to do a pretty good impression of a bloke, apparantly.

Re: The Art of being a man

A woman can never be a man unless you're born male. A goofy workshop won't teach what's it's like to live, think, act and experience life as a civilized man.
