There are some sports with 'tradition'. There are some that are real tests of skill and endurance, strength and agility. And then there are the totally friggin' useless. Table tennis. Is there a sport more useless than table tennis? I would put it at the top. Both men and women sweat and smack there way through these marathons of idiocy. One could die in the audience and no one would notice. Then there is the new one they introduced this year. BMX Bikes. What a fatuous wank for the kiddies this has turned out to be. It is totally pointless for anyone over 10. It is just ridiculous. Then there are the sports they ruin in their inability to televise or fail to manage properly. Like Archery. They only have target shooting which is about as boring to watch as cricket (thank God they don't have friggin' cricket in the olympics, although this year we are being bored to death with tennis - and don't get me going on Badminton ! Ahhhhgh !!). Where is the field shooting? I much prefer a pleasant country walk shooting at animal targets, around trees and bushes, over rivers and ravines, shooting elevations instead of a fixed distance on the flat. Where is the Clout? 50 mtrs, even 70 mtrs doesn't challenge an expert archer. Move up to 180 mtrs and see how the men are sorted from the boys. But they are nowhere to be seen on the schedule. They don't even tell you which way the wind is blowing. Rifle shooting is treated almost as bad. Ages of lying there immobile with commentators trying their damnest to find something to talk about. At least we have some shotgun and Clays to add a bit of variety. But by the Lord Harry its generally a bore. We have to wait for the winter games to see riflemen exhausted by ski-ing, having to excercise massive self-control to get the job done. How about women's judo? It has to go, shirley? The gold medal was won with only three throws in all the heats and the final put together. Throughout the dozens of bouts the girls just circled one another and ran off the mat at every opportunity. The Bronze was won on defaults ! No actual points were scored at all. What a waste of time. And please, please, get rid of 'Dressage'. They will be asking for the horses to wear friggin' tutus next and demanding pirouettes. How about a bit of Lance-work instead. Hand the whole horse eventing over to the Mongolians, I say. I could go on, but I am sure there are other people with criticisms. Your turn. I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]() | ||||

Synchronized swimming is humorous. What's next? Synchronized bum bumping? That needs to go. It isn't a sport... what a major Bore... Table tennis experts are amazing to watch if you've ever played the game much. Wow what skill some have. I don't think it should be in the Olympix, it's not really sport. All I know about cricket is it's a challenge to get them out of the canister onto your hook. Sport? don't think so. BMX competitions can be extreme and dangerous but there is only so many flips you can do through the air before you break your neck. It's too limited to be a Olympic sport. Womens judo.. That's comedy right? Sports should be about physical competition. . Thomas Jefferson once said "It takes time to persuade men to do even what is for their own good." ).I haven't watched the BMX bikes, but typically, I enjoy extreme sports. Snowboarding is one of the only sports I'll watch outside of the olympics....of course, being an avid snowboarder....I'm probably biased.

In my opinion, cricket is one of the more exciting spectator sports. Especially Test cricket. In fact, I prefer Test cricket and First Class cricket to One Day International matches and List A matches as there's more intensity and skill involved in the longer formats at the game. Rugby League is the most exciting spectator sport I've ever seen. The worst ones I have ever seen are Australian Rules Football, association football and American/Canadian football. Thankfully, Australian Rules Football is a minority sport in Queensland and New South Wales; only the backward persons from the southern states are into it. ![]() Speaking of the southern states, how come the arrogant elitists from there haven't won many medals for Australia? The southerners often refer to us Queenslanders as "rednecks" and say we're crazy. Well, at least us Queenslanders have enough talent to keep Australia competitive at the Olympics. If we relied upon the southern states then we would be well down the medal list. Table Tennis? Befor Beijing I would probably have agreed with you. After seeing the German players in action, playing ridiculous long rallys, I changed my mind. Its just great to see smash after smash after smash. Just watch (sadly no Beijing footage): Quote:
