Big Brown won the Kentuckey Derby going away. A filly named Eight Bells tried to run with the boys. She finished 2nd. She broke both her front leggs in the attempt and collapsed on the track just past the finish line. The females have won 2 or 3 races out of the past 130 years, and no female has won in a quarter century. Its a shame that the trainers of Eight Bells didn't have more sense. She was a good horse in a filly race. Quote:
