I'm already very used to it, but still saddened and appalled by society. What you describe is modern day Britain. Do you live on this side of the pond by the way?

I live on the other side of the pond, in the southern states.
The welfare queens over here, treat their children like dirt and breed like roaches.
At age 14, I made the free will decision to remain celibate, get an education and not contribute to this "baby momma shit storm" that teenage mothers can't seem to stay away from.

That truly is sad. I guess it has more to do with the culture where you live than Walmart.

One of the first things I noted was the cast on the girl's arm.. If you review the video you'll see the mother turned her back on the child just prior to yanking the kart/trolley away, thus tumbling the child out on to the floor... So by any account, she knew her child had not sat down (safe) by the time (half a second... a full second at the most?) she yanked on it.

The saddest part of this video though, everyone's so obsessed with screeching at one another - the poor kid is left looking completely and utterly bewildered as to what is going on.

It tells me she probably hasn't quite got her faculties back in full form after the fall/knock she took. It tells me she is somewhat used to her mother screaming at people (the kid wasn't in any shock by the looks of it). It tells me that perhaps the kids broken arm could be due to further negligence of the mother.

And another sad element of this is everyone could see the potential for this situation to occur (the kid falling out)... but no one dared approach the mightiest warrior of today's retail battle-ground; the mother of a child. Not one person had the balls to step up and 'advise' the mother "Hey, your kid might get hurt.. don't you think you should be getting her to sit down?" - in my day, kids of that size simply weren't allowed to sit in those karts - kids that size had to... "Walk" themselves.

I'm amazed at how many things are so wrong in such a short video. Just amazed.

And yes, KM, I've witnessed that type of environment several times - not just here in England but in MI/USA too...

My mother out-law used to physically beat the grand-kids while their mom just stood by. I was the only idiot in earshot who at least tried to stop the kids being beaten by the psychogranny. Here in England, I grew up in an environment where being hit was just part & parcel of everyday life.

One of the swaying arguments I read that convinced me the MRM wasn't just empty words, someone asked "When you're out shopping, which sex do you see physically hitting children while onlookers find anything else to distract them? Yet if a dad raises his voice in public, he gets investigated..." (paraphrased)... that rang bells with me.


People aren't scared to put a dad in his place and tell him to 'man up' if he needs reminding of basic parenting tactics... but NO ONE will dare speak out against a mother... especially a 'single mom' who has the 'hardest job in the world'.

In my experience, people don't really approach parents who are yelling at their kids or hitting them. They're afraid to get in the middle. It's kind of an unspoken code - kids "belong" to their parents. You don't know what happened to lead up to that point, you don't know the history, and as long as no injuries are happening it's not your place.

As for your ex-monster in law, good on you for trying to help, and shame on their mother for allowing it. From what you've said, it sounds like she has everyone firmly under her thumb, and they're afraid of her.

I spend quite a bit of time in Wal-Mart and have never seen behavior even approaching this. There is a reason someone got out their cell phone and recorded it. It's not right, but it's not common either. Thank you for your low opinion of womankind.

We have a need to admit the truth regardless of how ugly it is. I don't know exactly how common these instances are but how common is common? A few hundred? A few thousand?

Women seem to personalize everything (make it about themselves). If the law was anti-woman and you saw more men pushing for more anti-woman laws and taking advantage of women would you have a high opinion of men? At least those other women stood up to that nasty excuse of a mother, though. I'll give them that. I guess some women have some compassion for somebody, just not men.

I was trying to think of what to post while going through the comments, and I think Marx covered just about everything. The saddest part was how the little girl was so passive about it all. Clearly she is completely accustomed to this mother being a psychotic, negligent, self-absorbed loose cannon on deck, and sadder still if I know anything about mother/daughter relations, she will probably spend the rest of her life alternating between allowing her mother to abuse everything in her life, including her unconceived children and her future relations with men, and then turning around and defending her mother over the abuses.

Very, very sad, all of it. And there is even little, really, to admire in the conduct of the men. Instead of being leaders and behaving like men, they acted like goatherds, and just broke up the scene instead of really showing any kind of example.

Things like this just make me ache over what the world will look like when my kids are the adults, or their kids in turn.

Leadership is a lifestyle. Men have the tangibles but lack the intangibles and the willingness to make tough decisions regarding females because of social approval. It has gotten to the point now that showing that kind of leadership could cost one his career, his freedom, his reputation and his life.

Did it ever occur to you that if those men behaved like men during the incident, they would be arrested?

Did anyone of you also notice from about 32 second's in,she says repeatedly,"I didn't mean to do that one"?

I wonder if she is implying that she did mean to do other one's(ie,cast)?

The mother also did NOT tell the girl to sit down before she pulled the cart,she was to busy on the phone.

I guess she expected the little one to lie for her when she told the other women to "ask her".

I just replayed the video and my daughter over-heard the screaming and asked if the woman was nut's?

Your flesh and blood is more sensible than typical women are. I think the majority of women who do the types of things we speak against know they're wrong but don't care as long as they get their way.
