Hindsight is 20/20, haute, and it's easy to armchair quarterback. It's just possible she loved him. A lot of people get into relationships with people who have different belief systems than they do. It rarely works out as well as they'd both hoped. But that's another thing people don't take into consideration.

I must be a novice too because what haute says makes a lot of sense to me. Regardless of the fact that people get into relationships with people who have different belief systems than they do it doesn't change the fact that marrying a person and having kids with that person without knowing their beliefs is a bad idea.

Since Katie had no way of verifying whether Tom's words were true (it was just his word) it should have been a red flag to her but maybe women enjoy making poor decisions and bringing others (especially kids) into it. If women enjoy screwing their lives up with partners who are no good for them who am I to tell them differently? They're just like the doofuses who make fun of men who avoid marriage but then end up divorced. Oh wait! They are different... she didn't really "screw her life up" now did she? She will likely get the kids, property and probably payments too, won't she?

This isn't about Katie Holmes being female. For once, this is not a gender-issue, this is a guy is in an ultra-secretive cult issue. If the genders were reversed, I'd have the same opinion.

Her not shouldering ANY blame makes it a gender issue, in my eyes; were the genders reversed, the guy would be slated, for allowing his kid to be exposed to scientology.
