Maybe, but that doesn't mean you can discount the influence of the media. Have you noticed the change in the behaviour of girls? The whole ladette culture and girl power were originally media driven. And hey presto, a dozen years later, girls are more aggressive and less feminine.
But the media could said to be reflecting something that was already happening?

Now, a dozen years later, men are less aggressive and more feminine..

They seem to have decided the only way they can have some control over their families is best asking pretty please to the state to control on their behalf..

Perhaps you don't think there should be equality of treatment in the divorce courts then?

Hello bob, I think things are quite different in the US. Here in the UK the customer is definitely not as respected as much as in the US. I've been writing letters about advertising for decades and it's made no difference that I'm aware of. If I received a reply I was just fobbed off. It really needs more men (and women with sons?) to make the effort.

Perhaps so, but it matters a lot how you write and who you address to.

Last week Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engines got my letter (and I don't know how many others). This week their men bashing commercials have disappeared. Maybe they were going to end anyway, but maybe they fired the ad agency and are producing men-friendly commercials.

Address the CEO. If it goes to the marketing first the bimbos in marketing will toss it out.

    Blessings

    Bob

Equality does not mean the same. females are equally valued, but should never be considered the same as men.

It makes very little sense to sell a product purchased by men that bashes men..

Well, I understand you don't watch much TV so you don't really understand the phenomenon. Girl power started with the girl band the Spice Girls, which influenced many young girls. On the back of this, ladette culture took off because it became trendy for famous young women such as radio DJs (Sara Cox, Zoe Ball etc) and TV presenters, models etc, etc to go out at night getting totally drunk and acting in a loutish manner. Then things got more aggressive. It was triggered by the media and music industry, then young girls copied their behaviour. That was the cause and effect.

You think so? These slaggetes where put in the media spotlight and were largely responsible for me turing my radio off too..

    They follow the money..

As money went to women, the advertisers chased it..

No one HAS to follow the examples they are set, especially when they are clearly retarded..

I have tried CEOs, but maybe things are different here as well. I know PAs can have a big affect, opening letters and filtering what the CEO will take seriously.

So they are stupid. Thats one of those sad things in life, stupid folk are often led down the wrong road if others dont show them better..

I think the equality arguments are largely non starters personally because, well, folk find there own level without the state intruding too much in the main.

In this thread, the issue about one group feeling demeaned by an advert could be seen as a suggesting that no one should feel demeaned by an advert, no jokes should have butts, etc..

The media does not offer much these days..

Polysporin has a new camping commercial out in Canada and it is totally sexist. Can't find that video online just yet.
