Re: Whipped, for the girls
To qualify I'm not talking about the video I posted, but the ad. Look at it, and think about it. There is no explanation for why the guy acts the way he does, so I think it's fair to assume that either he's just a weenie, and always does what his girlfriend says, or that his girlfriend has him wrapped around her finger in some ways; it doesn't suggest that either thing is positive, but it presents it as amusing (I don't find it funny, but I don't find it offensive either) I mean plenty of comedy is based on things which in the real world would not be amusing. As Stephen King once said 'If I prick my finger with a pin, and it bleeds, that's tragedy, but if I'm walking down the street, fall through an open manhole and die, that's comedy,'I had to use my newly improved and updated GAG control.
Are you shitting me DS..?
I've known men like this, and I laugh at some of them; the kind of manginas who do absolutely everything and anything the woman in their life demands. Of course some men act like this because their partner is an abusive tyrant in which case it is of course no joke, but does anything suggest this is the case in this ad?

If there is misandry in that video, it's not as loud and obnoxious as it is on MTV. Any man with dignity would avoid watching it.

Scorn and mockery towards men in need is one of the reasons feminism is dying as we speak!.

Re: Sexist Adverts
While I do understand that the original post to this thread is extremely old, I would like to respond on the off chance that it is still relevant.
To begin:
There are 'sexy' advertisements featuring both men and women, depending on the target demographic. Perfumes and alcohols in particular like to feature women in compromising positions, or at least with the suggestion that using the product would increase sex appeal. It's not a solely male or female problem - but it does so happen that women have slightly more to cover then men do. It's harder to be discrete, in other words.
Secondly, anything directed at children or cleaning will almost ALWAYS feature women. This isn't sexism towards men, quite the opposite it is an industry that naturally assumes that men bring in paychecks, and women take care of the home. It's an old fashioned idea, but it still exists in advertisements. How many men do you see doing a good job with housework in commercials? Well... About as many as you see women who know what a wrench is. Also: Anything that falls under the 'Woman didn't cook/clean, and thus someone else has to do it' falls here as well.
Third of all, gimmicks are EVERYWHERE. Saying a woman is more likely to fall for leg stress relief scams is like saying a man is more likely to wear a snuggie while struggling with the 'quick fix' kitchen solutions sold on infomercials. ((One sec, let me hide the hypocrisy that is my rarely ever used shakeweight... We'll pretend I never bought that and stuck to curls instead. ^_~ ))
Kids in advertisements are either shown as brilliant, or borderline retarded. I don't know why, but that is how commercials like to feature them. A little boy running into a wall while his mom laughs ((Bad mom, btw)) isn't really too different from this commercial, which features several grown women acting like complete idiots. hot girls shopping -- funny commercial - YouTube
This might be nitpicking, last of all, but I would like to point out that it is hard to tell when vision is going bad. Normally it's not the person with failing eyesight who notices how bad it is, but the people around them. Add a dose of stubbornness, and voila! You have a man who can't find his rod. ((I had the opposite problem myself. XP My mom was SURE my vision was fine for years, and punished squinting - low and behold, I am practically blind.))
Moving on:
Celtic Druid-
To the Asians beating down the white guy commercial - I don't think that is so much misandric as just plain anti-racism. Why in the world they had ONLY the women beat the man down, while the man ((Who was the most abused)) just disappeared from frame beats me though... It just made those women out to be psychotic. o.o
The period pain one... You do realize they have the EXACT same commercial aimed for men, right? Some male product that is supposed to relieve stress, which they show by bringing in a horrible nagging wife, one flip of a switch and a huge log sends her flying away.
Now I am not saying sexism doesn't exist on both sides of the argument, but going too far one way or the other can be very harmful. Saying that there are only commercials that show women as subservient, overly sexed creatures with too much make-up is wrong... And so is saying that commercials only show men as stupid, incapable ignoramuses who can't tie their own shoe.

I've never seen that one aired in the UK. If you have a link to it, do post it. Although, looking at you're writing, I deduce you reside in the U.S.? I seriously doubt a UK advertising agency would even contemplate creating an equivalent ad, let alone air it before they're inevitably besieged by the shrieking irrationality of the feminist rent-a-mob.Kikisawoman said: The period pain one... Easy to say when women don't bear the brunt of such 'humour.'Deep breathes, gentlemen, it's all in good fun. Humor comes from exploiting some stereotypes and misguided beliefs and really there is no such thing as a politically correct joke.
I've noticed any ads which depict stereotypes of women are scant, mild and fleeting, whilst the vast majority of (genuinely) sexist ads are directed at men, which are increasingly spiteful and violent in their depictions.
Some say women accounting for 75-80% of consumerism drives the anti-male theme of ads, as this has provided a proven formula to boost sales. Furthermore, young girls are particularly susceptible to the influence of the media and draw their confused social cues from distorted representations of males. Ultimately, if you evaluated 500 random ads, you'd conclude women=martyr, angelic and superwoman, men=lazy, useless and halfwitted. It's not even remotely comparable!Last edited by Celtic Druid; 19th-December-2011 at 11:03 PM.

Re: Sexist Adverts
How is this derogatory?
Although, the aim of the advert with the boy, is probably for him to be laughed AT, whereas the women will generally not be laughed at.Kids in advertisements are either shown as brilliant, or borderline retarded. Re: Sexist Adverts
As I've already mentioned elsewhere, this family did not spend a cent at K-mart this Christmas as their sexist advertising suggested that they only wanted female customers. We've also added Priceline to our blacklist of sexist retailers due to their 'Sisterhood' ads which are designed to raise money for FEMALE charities ONLY. Quote: "The Priceline Sisterhood. Help us help women"

Re: Sexist Adverts
Ok, I believe this ad is more misandric than sexist.
Judge for yourself!
Firstly, it doesn't matter that a male, rather than a woman, is participating in perpetuating the misandry. It adds up to the same.
Gordon Ramsay is paid handsomely by Specsavers, to stage a video whereby a man is confusing a steamy kitchen with a sauna, to which he then symbolically dismembers his penis by cutting a phallic shaped sausage in half for his mistake.
What if we had a similar ad with a woman, where Gordon Ramsay was shown to chop up two jellies with cherries on top (representing breasts). Or sliced ham and arranged broccoli? You get the idea. What then?Last edited by Celtic Druid; 8th-February-2012 at 02:58 AM.

Re: Sexist Adverts
OK. This is what's behind all the Misandry and it is fact. The globalists that own all western governments and control the world's money supply through debt and fiat manipulation are implementing the world government they've been orchestrating for over 150 years. Part of their agenda is social engineering to make the populations compliant. Men are the biggest threat to their agenda as they're physically more powerful strength-wise and are more likely to challenge authority. The reason for this is men tend to view government as an alpha male threat and are exo-centric or focus outwards towards external threats, women tend to view government as a protector and tend to be more inwardly focused. Men also have higher IQs on average by about 5 points. But the big difference is in distribution, while women are more concentrated around the average, men are more evenly distributed across the spectrum resulting in more male dummies but exponentially more male geniuses. So the amount of above average IQ men vastly outweighs that of women, another reason men are more of a threat. So the more they can psychologically subjugate men in the media and 'empower' women, the more favourable the power balance for the elite and the more easily controlled society is. There is a reason virtually every spokesperson scientist in the media is a woman now. They want to condition the public to women being the leaders in science when in reality the vast majority are men. Women often get promted above men in science for this very reason. There was a new scientist article years ago with the picture of a girl on the front and the caption "The new face of science" After reading the article it became evident that the technology to manipulate atoms into relative positions was pioneered by an older white male, the girl was an understudy who made pretty pictures with the atoms. The Abby Sciutto effect is also part of this and not an accident, there's also Bones, CSI etc where women feature predominantly as lead scientists. Big Bang theory is a major culprit whereby the male geniuses are occasionally outwitted or put down by their female counterparts, male geniuses are described as hopeless geeks, while the few intelligent women are admirable geniuses. One episode of the Mentalist had him outwitted by a female at once stage etc etc. Another key aspect of this agenda is the disintegration of the family structure, the more they can get women to pursue masculine roles the less they'll pursue nurturing motherly ones and the child will end up being raised by the state in many instances be it literally or via the media and pop culture. Bottom line, this is all orchestrated.
