I am a science fiction fan, but I am wondering what do you guys consider to be the worst science fiction shows ever made? For example, how about Galactica 1980? I am also wondering if any of you ever heard of the really crappy sci fi show during the 70s that only had one episode and was then canceled called the "Space Force" or something like that.

The worst SciFi films? I have to put my hand up and admit that I will stay up late to watch those very old (40's/50s/'s) ones where enormous bugs or spiders or whatnot terrorise some obscure town in outback America (never Ashby dela Zouche or Glasgow). Farmers are food or Winchester toting vigilantes; where the army are impotent with tanks that barely scratch the monster; and it is down to a 'scientist' fellow and his beautiful girlfriend to save the day; usually with an unknown fighter pilot in an old prop-driven crate that blows it away with napalm. Terrible acting; worse scripts; and the monsterous bug has the odd squeak for it's lines. Or the ones where a tall, thick-set and smelly alien is discovered in a flying saucer in the Arctic; a human looking thing with terrible breath that eats people and huskies. Though why they would come 50 light years all the way across the galaxy to eat huskies is never explained. They usually end up as toast. There is never a mention of the return ticket in his pocket. I can never recall the titles. I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]()

You should also remember girls are on here also. I have always enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons. http://www.playerzblog.com/dungeons-...tormreach.html. Not the same exactly but that is as far as I go to the pretend. But my favorite sci fi writer is the founder of Scientology; L Ron Hubbard, who is a writer who has written stories that seem from the outside to be no more than science fiction yet they are disguised. They speak the truth. At the beginning of the stories he names and explains all characters which if you read closely give you clues that jump out at you as to who are the real life people and groups he speaks of are. <blockquote>Hubbard first came to public attention as a writer for the pulp magazines of the 1930s. During the next two decades he turned out a host of westerns, mysteries, sea adventures, and science fiction stories under his own name and several pseudonyms. Signals reported that at his peak he wrote "over 100, 000 words a month." Hubbard's writing, Martin Gardner explained in his In the Name of Science, "is done at lightning speed. (For a while, he used a special electric IBM typewriter with extra keys for common words like 'and, ' 'the, ' and 'but.' The paper was on a roll to avoid the interruption of changing sheets.)" Hubbard published nearly 600 books, stories, and articles during his lifetime. His fiction volumes sold over 23 million copies, while his non-fiction books sold over 27 million copies.</blockquote> But then he did have a fall out with the World Bank and fled to Europe from being audited.

Speaking of Hubbard and really bad sci-fi...they sure did a great job slaughtering his Battlefield Earth in the movie version. As for other truly terrible titles, I'll have to go with Percy, I can't give you any names but the black and white B movies about alien abduction, killer vegetables and such have got to top the list.
"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do." - Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird http://equalbutdifferent.blogspot.com/

I remember a few episodes of Blake's Seven that had such terrible special effects and monsters that it ruined the otherwise good story. I also hated the stuff with those kids in Galactica. Not sci-fi, but the last horror movie I saw, BloodRayne, must be one of the worst movies of all time. So bad that it hurts. Recommended for masochists. Blessed are the cracked, for they let in the light. (Spike Milligan)

There's too many to list, we had a lot of crappy ones on TV when I was growing up, cheesy special effects, ridiculous scripts, wooden acting... I remember one called "Mars Needs Women", absoute howler ![]() There was a US show that mocked a lot of these old groaners, something like 'Theatre 2000'?
