I know there are others in the men's movement that are of Christian nature and may have studied this in depth in some other way and with some other conclusions. 'False Religion' is one that I hear many God fearing people say about the Harlet; Babylon the Great but i have a different idea to share. And am doing so just because I can.

We begin with Revelation 17 verses 1-6:

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgement of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom
the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. 5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I marvelled with great astonishment.

Let's see what we can learn from this:

*This is a vision, so rather than a specific literal woman the woman herself is a symbol of a group of persons.

*The female gender is an important clue to Revelation's readers. The primary symbolic meaning of a woman in prophecy is that of a faithful wife or of a bride being readied for her future husband. The alternative symbolic meaning is that of an unfaithful wife or a harlot -- a perversion of the beauty of God's original plan.

*The woman is described as the "great whore." She trades something for
money and power.

*She "sitteth upon many waters." Later in this chapter we'll see that "many waters" tell us this whore is involved with many different nations and ethnic groups.

*Her paying customers include "the kings of the earth." This is a very powerful woman who is able to sell something to the world's most powerful leaders.

*The effects of this whoredom permeate the whole world. Even the ordinary "inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk" by all the high-level messing around.

*The woman is sitting upon a scarlet-colored beast with seven heads and ten horns. She is being carried by the political system of the Last-Days Dictator.

*This woman is no ignorant victim of "incorrect" doctrine. This woman is a cold, brutal murderer. She causes the spiritual death of ALL of her victims.

*This woman is amazingly "tolerant" of ALL types of religion.

Let's see what the angel says about the beast in verses 7 -14:

And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Let's see what we can learn from this:

*The beast is pictured as having seven heads and ten horns. The seven
heads tell us that the beast is empowered and guided by the seven demonic personages.

*The ten horns tell us that ten visible earthly kingdoms will be involved in this last-days kingdom or confederacy.

*Note that the crowns are on the horns of this beast. This is God's way of telling us that the focus is on the worldly kingdoms and leaders and their activities.

*Upon his heads we see "the names of blasphemy." Even though this beast will begin as a political leader and his crowns are on the horns (emphasis on worldly power), the heads are decorated with blasphemous names. In other words, the demonic creatures behind the beast are all identified with vile religious concepts and practices. There will be no "separation of church and state" when this beast rises to power.

Back to the woman, with verses 15-18:

And he sayith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil His will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

These verses tell us a great deal about the woman.

*Her power base is multinational. She franchises all over the world.

*Although the beast will officially endorse the woman's ideals, and the woman will encourage her followers to accept the mark of the beast, her religion/way of life will NOT be the same as the beast-worship advocated by the False Prophet. This is an important distinction. The woman is NOT the same as the False Prophet.

*The ten stupid kings will tolerate the woman for awhile, until all her followers either take the mark of the beast or get radically saved. Then God will turn them loose to destroy this woman.

*The ten kings shall "make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire." This speaks of destruction on several levels. First, they begin to distance themselves from her. Next they criticize her doctrine. Then they formally stop their political sponsorship and financial support, leaving her "naked." Finally they start destroying her leaders. For good measure, they vaporize her headquarters.

*The angel concludes by saying that the woman "is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

The Princess of Lies.

I don't know if it's any woman specifically. Maybe it is a metaphor for the New Girl Order of the early 21st Century, what I term (in a less media-friendly way) the Female Power Assumption. Maybe it's feminists and the feminist movement?

My take on it is this: the whore is both a nation and a philosophy. The philosophy is feminism and the nation is the United States of America - Babylon the Great. Note that Babylon is a great trading center and that when it is destroyed, merchants from around the world shall mourn. The ancient mysteries personified by the whore include witchcraft and paganism, which are both embraced by and at the same time, part and parcel of, feminism. In fact, the concept of matriarchy itself is satanic as it defies the plan laid out by God. Moreover, the matriarchal concept is embraced by feminism and has its roots in witchcraft and the occult.

Feminism, and babylon itself (the USA), shall be useful dupes in establishing the global government of the beast (antichrist). This we are already seeing, in that one of the greatest proponents of feminist wording in UN documents and indeed the feminist agenda at large has been the United States. When the US took over in Iraq, they immediately feminized the country demanding that a set percentage of politicians, bureaucrats, public servants etc. HAD TO BE WOMEN. Likewise in Afghanistan under the direction of the United Nations.

Feminization of nation states is necessary to undermine the family and attack existing structures of power i.e. the church.

Later on, the destructive nature of feminism will cause the leaders of the United Nations, or whatever they shall call themselves, to cast it and the United States by the wayside. Once its purposes are effected, (a global state established), there shall be no need for the other two. She shall be drunk with the blood of the saints because feminism will have permeated the church at the highest levels, just as pornography, perversion and fornication will have so permeated these high places.

Hollywood is a great example of the embodiement of the whore, as are personalities like Madonna and Britney. One of whom is involved with the ancient mysteries of Babylon through the Kabbalah and the other who declared herself to be the anti-christ, writing 666 upon her forehead while in a rehab center. Interestingly, in Madonna's video, "What it's Like for A Girl" in which she goes around assaulting and even killing men, the number of the room where she is staying just happens to be 666.

This fits in with the duality of much of revelations in which two are one. Just as the beast is a nation and an individual, so too the whore is a nation and a philosophy.

The women that rides the beast is actually a description of the consumerism we have today where everything is ruled by big corperations.
The beast is the goverment system and is called babylon which does trade with all the nations merchants. All the nations drink of Her Cup(ruled) by the system of babylon. The name for Europe is taken from the mythical Europa. The whore represents a false church which gives power to the beast(government).
The whore is an ecomenical movement that will force most people to worship the anti-christ who rules the global govenment.

Ten nations will hate the whore and cause problems which will lead to war. The bibles speaks of a global government which God is against but will allow for short time. The bible states that a Mark of the beast will cause all people to worship the beast(system) and no one could buy or sell without the mark. Anyone who takes this mark will be condemned to die with the beast.

Metaphorically the feminist riding the back of government as she whores around with all the nations of the earth pushing her ideas on everyone could give this an ambiguous meaning but certainly not the main emphasis.

I grew up studying eschatology long before I fell away from the faith and returned after a long period. I have watched what some said would come to pass and we are heading straight down the path.

The definition of the WHORE is definately a church which is going after strange gods. It goes way back to OT writings..
Israel was considered the wife of God who went whoring after strange gods and he divorced her for this.

Most christians relate revelations back to the book of Daniel. And the Jewish scholars believe all that prophecy was past tense. I think the expression "nothing new under the sun" comes into play here. Could these prophecies relate to the past, some present times and future times? I think they could. Modern events are leading us towards similar events Daniel spoke of.

I don't know of a seven year peace treaty with Israel in the past but there may have been such. Daniel mentions a 7 year treaty around the time of Jacobs trouble. A seven year peace treaty has been signed and was written by Javier Solana who has made himself the general of the WEU. He made the treaty with the 27 memebrs of the middle east.

Javier Solana also created the AOC. Alliance of civilization. Which is suppose to go into effect about 2010. Some claim he will build a bridge between religions like those in the west and Islam. At the same time it appears he will oppose all fundamental movements. He just may be a ecomenical leader which will seek to bring all religions into one that worships the antichrist. Solana is a recent Catholic convert. Solana planned the attacks on Yugoslavia without consent of all WEU members, in the name of peace. He has enflamed Israeli leaders for his peace tactics with Palestine.

I'm not certain if this is the 7 year peace treaty that Daniel spoke of because it shall work for a few years and then fall and in he middle of this seven years he will stop all temple sacrifices.
The temple sacrifices are not happening at this time and the temple is not built yet.. Which would negate this 7 year treaty as the prophecy. Of course there is still time to start up the old temple rituals but without a temple? I don't know if the temple has to be there to offer sacrifices or not. The Muslim Dome of the rock sits there now. Some believe this is the desecration that Daniel spoke of. But according to Daniel they must start the sacrifice again in order for this prophecy to be in effect. I suppose we will see what happens.
If sacrifices start up again within two years I would be very concerned.

According to Wiki, Reform Judaism and Reconstructionist Judaism do not believe in the rebuilding of a Temple or a restoration of Temple sacrifices or worship. Yet the Conservative Judaism believes in rebuilding the temple and sarifices are no longer needed.

Christians believe Yeshua is the new temple and each of his true followers are a temple where God dewells. Yeshua(Jesus) said that the temple would be destroyed which was in 70 a.d. and he would rebuild it in three days.
This statement angered the Jewish leaders in that day for it took years to build the temple. The temple Yeshua spoke of was his people.
According to Stephen the first christian martyr the temple was always suppose to be the people of God(congregation) and not a building.
Yeshua raised his temple after he was resurrected on the third day.
Yeshua spoke against going into a temple made of hands. For we are a temple and should worship God where ever we are.

Revelation makes much use of imagery from Daniel and other prophets. To them Babylon had become a symbol of worldly power and immorality, and the writer may also be including Rome (the beast with seven heads?) as another manifestation of the same. [the Babylonian captivity lasted from approx 590 to 520 BCE]
Harlotry in the Old Testament is often a metaphor for religious apostasy.

Revelation is a merciless revenge fantasy, the apocalyptic ranting of a borderline personality.
