The best of all quotes are meaningless unless successively implemented within the genre they purport to support. I dislike the idea that great quotes only emanate from those people in supposedly lofty positions. Whilst we celebrate renowned quotes which move us, let's hear what the locals have to say?

In a week where we pay homage to those brave men in WW2 and beyond, it's all about those heroes and the quotes attached to them.

General Patton has badass for days:

Wrong.

In recent years, the term "Angel" has become more of less synonomous with "pussy". It conjures up images of disproportionately huge-breasted ninety-pound lingerie-clad Victoria's Secret models having sweaty pillowfights in the clouds while innocent-looking fat kids play the harp and blow kisses at butterflies and rainbows or fly around on their white wings and shoot love arrows at teenage couples having picnics in the park on sunny summer afternoons or some other such fruity shit. Well people tend to forget that the most hardcore of all Harley-riding, heavy metal-listening, battle-axe wielding, cocaine-snorting bastards got his shit fucking annihilated by the biggest badass of all the Archangels.

Just to refresh your memory, the story goes like this: Once upon a time Lucifer was this high-ranking Angel who didn't think he was getting the props he deserved so he decided he was going to start kicking some ass and try to see if he could run the show himself. He recruited one-third of all the Angels in Heaven to join up with him David Koresh-style and try to overthrow the big man upstairs. So one day God and everybody are chilling out and this fucking insane-o motherfucking demon busts through the pearly gates ready to kick fucking asses and making the lesser angels (the fat kids and VS models) piss themselves:

Holy shit everybody thinks they're totally fucked because look at this motherfucker. He's a fucking huge red monster with gleaming talons and spikes covering one-third of his body and glowing eyes and he looks PISSED. But instead of handing over St. Peter's keys like some kind of two-dollar pussy carjacking victim, God takes one look at this thing and is just like, "Mike, show this fucking douchebag the door". The Archangel Michael calmly nods his head, slowly takes the cigarette out of his mouth and flicks it onto the floor, cracks his knuckles and confidently strides towards Lucifer.

From a story. It's a poem that describes a pure-hearted man's life slowly spiraling out of control until he's ultimately killed by the ones he dedicated himself to save. Felt it applies to men in general, nowadays.

He breaks the true meaning of the poem down in-story:

"His body is made out of swords.
His blood is of iron and his heart of glass."

- Therefore, I can endure most things. There was an ideal and an oath I had to protect. I did not care what I lost to do so. Even when I was betrayed, I believed there would be a next time if I did not betray myself. I did not show grief or pain.

- It's not something to go around proclaiming. The more I fail and the more I am unable to achieve, the less I can talk about my ideal. The only thing left for me is to obstinately protect this ideal until the very end.

And the result…
The ideal I dreamed of has never been accomplished,
​and I found out that it's just nonsense dreamed by a fool who is only a nuisance to others.

That's right, I admired the desire to save others because it was beautiful.
But none of that feeling is my own. What else can you call it but hypocrisy!?

I was driven by my excessive need to help someone.
I kept running, neither noticing the pain nor how wrong I was!

But it's all a fake. Such hypocrisy cannot save a thing.
No, first of all, I didn't know what I wanted to save-!

I must look pitiful.
- That ideal is a failure.
The idea that everyone else is more important than yourself, the wish for everyone to be happy, is all fantasy.
If I can only live by holding on to that ideal, I'll drown in it.
There is no value in living, no, in my life itself.

If parts of me are broken, then I just need to use the parts that aren't.
If everything I have is broken, then use the parts I don't have.
"His body is made of swords". That's right, I already knew that.
This is just a dream. But I kept on believing in it because I thought it was right.
I wont lose to you. I don't mind losing to someone.
But I won't give up on myself!

I have many, but my most prominent means much: "The wicked flee when none pursueth." Proverbs 28:1. Essentially the concept extends to every aspect of life: if you allow those who are guilty of crimes against the community to flee - then society will deteriorate as a natural consequence because of inaction! This includes white-collar criminals (bankers and financial terrorists) as much as murderers and (genuine) rapists.

Pursue we must.

seeing as Pops started with a scene from a movie here's one of my fav's

When a fireman was called out to fight a large brush fire he and his coworkers rushed to the closest fire hydrant, connected their water hoses, and ran to the flames. However, when they turned on the water at the hydrant nothing happened. The water lines had not been properly connected by the developers and all they could do was watch the destruction; they were helpless and hopeless.

Much in the same way, those who place too much faith in security often end up trying to put out fires with empty water hoses.
