People that wear designer glasses

Yeah,
There seems to be a trend over here (and maybe other places in the world) where people that are looking to come across as so much smarter than the rest of us, wear designer glasses on TV.
These people don't need these glasses to see or to read, pretty much what they are saying is this, I am talking down to you as you are looking at me, after all I'm smart enough to be wearing this eye-wear.
And yes they are, they are talking down to us all, from such a level of pretentiousness it isn't even funny.
Some of them might have even left school with some sort of an education, but let's face it, they are on TV, so it's hard to fathom that one out.
They let everyone on TV these days.

So, designer glasses people, we are on to your game, you come across as the smug bastards that you are trying not to be.

Smug wearing eyeglasses?i suppose some may do that,yet i see a person with unfortunate genetic's,and if they try to belittle you,remind them of that fact.

Well, I wear em to read and write. The last time I went to get new ones, he showed me the "cheap - discontinued" frames... A set of designer Harley Davidson frames were there, and I liked how they looked on me.... Got em cheap.

Other than that, I would never do the designer thing intentionally.

I wear goggles about half the time... can't say I bother with designer frames much, usually.

I don't care about designer glasses. I'm satisfied as long as my glasses fit well and looks decent (e.g. I would not like to wear harry potter glasses

)

I wear them (when I can be arsed to go and find them) but would never wear 'designer'. I refuse to pay extra just because they're designed by someone who is 'allegedly' famous.

I've noticed the trend to wear fake glasses, I don't understand it. But then, I don't understand jeans halfway down your bum with your underwear on show either. I think I'm getting to 'that age'

My husband wears colored contacts(he does need them though, he's near sighted), I guess that's the closest thing to designer glasses he wears.

If he needs glasses/contacts, then it's personal choice as to whether they are designer or not, but wearing them purely for aesthetic purposes is pointless imo.

Indeed it does, but not everything has to be charged at 3, 4, many times more than the necessary price just because it has their name on it. eg I can buy a pair of decent jeans for about £15. I can buy an identical pair with, say, Tommy Hilfiger on them somewhere for about £40. What is the point?

There's a big difference between needing glasses due to bad eyes, or solely wearing them for show. The latter is just to fool people.

The difference between cheap and expensive "designer" items is quality and durability, which partially justifies the price. A big chunk of the cost is for the brand itself though.
