How to tag threads?

This is both an earnest question and a chance for me to practice tagging.

It seems to me that I posted a thread within the last week where I tried to give it tags and was informed by the site that I wasn't allowed.

Okay yes I just tried to submit this thread and got "You do not have permission to create tags. You may only use existing tags."

So where is the list of existing tags?

Also please remember to separate tags with a comma, not a space.

And I should find, in the future, that I can do this tagging before submitting a new thread?

The URL I gave only lists 100 tags, for others you can simply start typing letters to a word you think it should use (e.g. if you think a thread is about 'domestic violence', then type 'dom' and a menu will appear offering you 'domestic violence').

And I should find, in the future, that I can do this tagging before submitting a new thread?

Like, is tagging something that is only done after the thread is submitted?

Or can it be part of the process of initially creating a thread?

Once I found out where to find the tag list, I could have created another thread to find this out for myself, but I thought I'd ask you instead.

i just tried to put tag's on a new thread and there is no way that it could get posted untill i deleted all of the tags

Hmm, well thanks for the input on these issues - when i get more time I will investigate what's going on with the tagging script...
