I just had a call from Drex with regards TRF4J and their latest campaign. Naturally, he's there doing his bit for Father's everywhere.

This morning protesters from Real fathers for Justice, together with supporters from other parental groups will join together to demonstrate outside of Dundee social services offices in City square.

Social workers have come in for criticisms over decisions made in family courts, many parents are angry at the way they have been treated in court after social workers have got involved in cases, many fathers believe that social workers hold sexist views and the system has an inbuilt bias towards mothers being main carers of children.

Further more social workers are all too ready to accept allegations made against fathers by their ex partners, yet are slow to act on claims against mothers and too easily accept their explanations for injuries or assaults on their children.

Alan Baird is the director of Social Work based at this office at Dundee; he has come in for widespread criticism over the case of baby Brandon, Scotland’s baby P.

Local resident David H will be present at the protest, he claims his reports to authorities were ignored, as a concerned neighbour he tried to notify police to an assault on a disabled girl by mother of Baby Brandon, he also alleges he saw her ply her young daughter with alcohol.

David claims that Dundee social workers have persecuted him since moving to the area, Alan Baird has ignored his complaints, they have even threatening him with the removal of his own children, following his own court case to gain contact with his youngest son.


David said: “The reason I am going this protest is to highlight that I have asked this council to help in the treatment that my son has been receiving, but Alan Baird fails to act, he and his colleagues refuse to listen to my concerns regarding systematic child abuse, I feel this is in part if not wholly because of my gender”

“I am a single dad and main carer of my two eldest children; I came to Dundee to seek contact with my third child from my second marriage, the problems started when the court ordered a social worker to do a report on me”

“The social worker entrusted to compile the report did not even visit me, but instead formed the basis for the report after visiting my former partner, she readily believed her claims I was a danger to my son and recommended no contact, all without even meeting me or my son’s siblings”
At court I was refused all direct contact, which was confusing as I continue to be the main carer to my two older children, they also have had no contact with their little brother”

Rffj spokesman Mike Kelly said: “We fully support today’s protest in Dundee, for too long the voices of parents like David have been ignored, social workers hide behind secrecy laws and hold prejudiced views towards fathers in Scotland”

“We hear of many cases of failures of social workers, too many children are getting systematically denied access to their fathers their paternal family”

“When the system is set up to pit one parent against the other, an adversarial battle is inevitable; cases can drag on for years, lives lost, childhoods damaged, the only winners are the lawyers and those who make their living from feeding on this misery in court”

“Today marks an escalation of direct action against a family justice system that is in desperate need of reform, we urge that other affected parents join us and get involved in protest against a corrupt system that cares little about the future of our children, more about covering backs and lining each other’s pockets”
