I use this phrase alot and tv shows and even kids' comics use this as well, but people are telling me that it's hurtful to women.

Which 'people' are telling that putting men's qualities into boxes, like "fighting = male", is harmful to women?

Arguments like that don't tend to come from everyday folk... There tends be certain types of individuals who make everything about how xyz-stuff harms women...some-mysterious-how.

Queensbury rules? Or is hair pulling and nipple tugging allowed? I don't think fighting is as popular these days as it was decades ago when I was a lad.. But boys did fight a fair fight on the hole..

Feminists will find anything offensive that doesn't speak of female power. Everyone knows that men are naturally better fighters, so they have no other action but to get mad. Penis envy at it's finest.

Almost everything has a gender; even electricity has positive a negative charges. So, either it is sexist in that everything is "sexist", or the question is meaningless. However, I believe that it is most often used in a sexist manner.

Who cares if it is? The same people say that the expression "to throw like a girl" is sexist too. So what? Most girls can't throw balls as they don't learn to do so at a young age. However, they are experts at hitting and kicking balls as they are given ample training, encouragement and experience in that area.

Hell, I'm left-handed, and, if I wanted to, I could have my panties in a bind about terms and expressions such as "sinister, left-handed, two left feet, out in left field, etc." But you know what? It's a right-handed world. I can't help it that most of you people are inferior!
