Members in the UK are probably more aware than I am about what machinations are going on regarding the 'big society'.
I understand that the Government is working hard to have local area Police Chiefs and Mayors directly and personally 'elected' from the community rather than appointed from Police ranks or selected by local Councils by the elected Councillors. And that 'political' people are after all the jobs now being thrown open.
Guido Fawkes is mentioning Harriet Harman as a 'player' behind the scenes pushing various Ex-Labor Ministerial staffers into these positions. The disgruntled body of usual Labor voters would be a formidable 'block' to ensure that instead of independant local people getting in, Labor stooges would get in. This would see a further decline in the treatment of men, in particular, and cement local policies for the cultural marxists and Feminists to gain full Operational / 'directive' control over the police forces.
Anyone au fait with details?
Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum
Love the Sinner but not the Sin.
(St. Augustine)
“ For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. “

A Feminist is a human being who has lost her way and turned vicious.
If you meet one on the road as you Go your Own Way,
offer kindness but keep your sword drawn.

When it comes to her views on the police, I have found myself in agreement with some of Harman's speeches. For example:
Harman has also harangued the government on spending £100 million on elected police commissioners. I am not aware of her having spoken in favour of them.It is a very important constitutional principle that elected members leave the police to get on with their job. We provide the resources and the legal framework, but it is not for elected members to decide who or what the police should be investigating or to seek to interfere with the conduct of police inquiries. That is totally wrong.
Every country that has elected police has higher corruption among the police. I can see no good in forcing police to have split interests where they must at times decide between the proper upkeep of law and their own personal interest.
