Thread: Election

I like Ron Paul a lot, too. I don't agree with much of his foreign policy (I think letting Iran have a nuke is a very dangerous idea), but his domestic and financial policies are spot on. I wish he could get his campaign working a bit better. Right now he is simply preaching to the choir.

Given a choice of those candidates who are in the front running for the Republican Caucuses coming up though, I'd have to throw my support with Herman Cain. If anyone needs and explanation as to why, I'd be happy to share, or you can do the research.

I gave up on voting as it is an exercise in futility. Now I refuse to vote as I don't want to support the existence of government, i.e. a system whereby people try to control each other and take each other's money and property.

Dylan, I used to be so ideologically motivated as well. However, after having reviewed human nature at it's basest, I have come to realize that the best I can do is mitigate the damage as much as I can with the tools we are provided.

The decision not to vote is still a decision, and unfortunately, one that only confers power to those that do. All these young and disenfranchised individuals fail to realize that by ignoring (or worse yet pulling down) the entire system will only allow the basest forms of rule to prosper.

If you can't imagine it being worse....then perhaps you should read "Lord of the Flies". Human's without some form of societal, moral, or lawful governance have a tendency to cannibalize each other.

We do not have the luxury of moral governance (feminism and misandry is the proof of that). We do not have the luxury of societal governance (there are too many separate factions that would eat each other alive), so we must depend on LAWFUL governance. Becoming part of that process CAN at the least alter public opinion.

If you truly felt as you do, then you would not be HERE. This is the arena....this is the border of the battlefield, and we tackle the tough issues and attempt to sway the minds of people to the TRUTH of what has become a disease in our societies.

Take what you have learned here and press it forward on the issues that matter in your life and ACT.

I appreciate your thoughtful and respectful feedback. You make some good points, points which I have considered. Nonetheless, my decision, not an easy one, still stands. My decision not to vote is the right decision. The nature of politics is the elimination of the free will, freedom of thought and harmless actions on the part of the individual.

Democracy is a euphamism for the tyranny of the majority (of voters, not the populace). I do not want people trying to control my life, including my personal vices, nor do I want to try to so control others. And, regarding the basest forms of power, that's just what politicians are. They are all the same, if they have any power at all. People such as Ron Paul can't get anywhere as they are not on "the team". Democrat, Republican, Obama, McCain, etc., it makes no difference. They all toe the line and serve the corporate-military industrial complex.

I chose to act outside of politics, for moral and practical reasons. Education and carefully choosing how and where I spend my money are the best ways to make a difference in the world. I don't even believe in being an "activist". I prefer being a "passivist." I prefer passive aggression, shunning those who are immoral, non-violent noncooperation, and just stubbornly living the way I ought to.

I can understand why people opposed to politics still engage in politics as a form of self defense; however, once one sees that politics is the violent control of people for the enrichment of isolated elites and the redistribution of wealth against the will of most contributors, one would be hard put to continue participating in such an evil system.

Through my research (as a UK Ron Paul supporter), I've found America to be not much different than the UK in so far as the futility in voting, given it's a rigged game. That is, the American and British governments are corporations (registered in the UK) and it doesn't matter what flavour of politics inhabits the Whitehouse, they all blindly adhere to corporate influence regardless.

The voting process is a piece of predetermined theatre, cruelly played out to give the people an illusion they have influence in politics.

Since Kennedy, every successive president has failed dramatically to deliver unto the people, given they've sold their soul and become part of the problem.
