    In my castle...

Okay, so I work at a clothing store. And to make the customers' shopping experience better, they'll play pop songs. (Not sure how that's supposed to make the experience better, not worse, but I digress.) One of these pop songs is The Lazy Song, by Bruno Mars. And one of the lines in this song is "In my castle, I'm the frikkin man." Only not in the store I work at. Because they censored it there, along with probably 2/3 of the song.

To painful labor both by sea and land,
To watch the night in storms, the day in cold,

Still, at least if things swing around anytime soon - we'll see lots of today's female artists being censored too ...right?

I've noticed the song having the word 'sex' censored on the radio - depending what time of the day they play it.

"Find a really nice girl, have some really nice *blank*".

The lyrics aren't great but the song is catchy. He says he's throwing his hands in his pants and he's strutting in his birthday suit. Which is it?

^^Discovered this one watching the Twilight Zone movie. Thank you Dan Aykroyd.^^

I don't get what's so good about his music. "Just the Way You Are" should be registered as a method of torture, alongside everything released by Taylor Swift. I've heard both of them so much at work that I actually want to punch the person responsible for providing our music selection. I've seen Filipino kids who can sing better.

Update: Apparently, in said store, it is not okay to play the line "in my castle, I'm the frikkin man," but it is okay to play a song which openly states "Women run the world, and men don't."

I think my store is overstocked on standards...we ordered one, and somehow we have two.

In a very ironic and comical twist-I picked up one of my cousins from Rehab a few months back, her 2nd time through spin-dry. While waiting in the patient discharge area I noticed a very familiar song sans lyrics being played on the Muzak speakers: "Drugs & Sex & Rock & Roll" by Ian Dury. Wonderful subliminal suggestions for addicts trying to kick dope.

Have you considered actually putting this complaint forward to management about the hypocrisy & sexism the store is perpetuating?

Not that if she wants to keep her job...

I attended a seminar on the prevention of sexual harassment at workplace, and all of the examples given were male perpetrators, female victims.

I resisted the temptation to point the obvious misandry out... for my personal safety from vendetta...
