    Old vs New

    Ah that always interest me. Different versions of songs. Coverversions so to say.....I´ll start with shock the monkey. A song by Peter Gabriel

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oaSZxd9jOY"]YouTube - Peter Gabriel - Shock The Monkey[/ame]

    Its not a bad song.....now hear this

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9Wm_3Z9Ryg"]YouTube - Coal Chamber - Shock The Monkey[/ame]

    Coal Chamber meets Ozzy....and the result....imo great. Far more feel to it. And Ozzys voice really suits that song. Well I say new wins. The question is....which is the weirder video?

    Old:

    "Shout" (Tears for Fears)

    New:

    "Shout" (Disturbed)

    My opinion: the better of the two: definitely the older version...lol

    The most offensive thing you can do to a feminist is treat her with FULL equality.
    Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
    Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
    Wife : "Those they gave away."
    Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
    Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
    Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

    Another friend of mine, who is a musician were having a discussion about Disturbed one day. He rightfully pointed out that every song they do sounds the same. The singer sings the same way for every frickin' song. It's lame.

    Agreed!

    I'll go one further. I hate Disturbed not only because all their music sounds the same, but it was my ex's favorite band AND he liked to get smashed and play this song really loud, get really angry, and yell out these lyrics ...into my face.

    Talk about disturbed.

    I swear to you when he did this it really seemed to me like he was possessed by an evil spirit. This video seems appropriate in that context.

    Walks down memory lane...ain't they grand.

    Geez. Your ex sounds like a real winner. LMAO.

    I just get the feeling that the lead singer wishes he were Maynard from Tool, but falls short.

    It's really weird, really, MadShangi. He could be in a really great mood, have a few beers, hear this song (or any song by Disturbed), and turn into a total asshole in less than five minutes.

    Okily dokily.....another one

    The old:
    NiN - Hurt
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFx2TmQfM-o"]YouTube - Nine Inch Nails - Hurt: Live[/ame]

    Just found a live video

    The cover:
    Johnny Cash - Hurt
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go"]YouTube - Johnny Cash Hurt[/ame]

    Funny thing about this. I heart the cover first. And I really prefer the cover. The video is awesome and the voice of Johnny really really makes this song much better. Arround the release Johnny Cash died. So although I had never heard of him that really made me sad and I found myself listening and listening to that song again and again.

    Johnny Cash led an interesting life. He struggled with addictions, and overcame them, but the road to recovery was very bumpy, indeed. Knowing his history makes the song "hurt" all the more poignant.
