I can understand how females can get caught up in viewing the females today as role models. I grew up in the age of Madonna, Spice Girls and Britney Spears. My parents were quick on educating me that isn't how a female acts and that you can be strong without doing those things.

One woman I personally look up to, obviously not as an inspiration, but as an example of a very 'female,' kind of excellence (but abounding also in qualities of a more broadly human nature) was Florence Nightingale. She looked at medecine in a very unique way (a way very different to the prevailing view of that period) and the reforms she encouraged saved uncountable lives, but more important to me was the idea of treating wounded/sick persons with dignity, and not treating them in an industrial fashion, but with human empathy. To me her work embodies a very practical applications of one of the most beautiful femenine traditions and qualities. She did this in an era when women were supposedly impressed; she had an education many men of that era would have envied.

I agree with Haute Macabre here. I dislike most Pop singers as well, being they just turn so disgustingly slutty and the absolute worst ones are hideous Lady Gaga and that thing, Kesha. I know that sounds a bit harsh, but seriously, Lady Gaga comes off so disgusting, hell she even threw herself into a Palooza crowd wearing almost nothing but pasties and fishnets! Even worse, she's supposed to be 24 (I'm a year younger) and she looks like she's 40. Kesha, well, that girl needs to stop singing. her voice is so full of computer effects she sounds like a robot and it literally gives me a headache, not to mention, she straight-up looks like trailer-trash too.

There are others, but too many to get into. It's just horrible to think these girls see them as role-models. the reason Gaga has so many fans is cuz she prances around like she's so "unique" and "masculine" when she honestly isn't, only her gaudy fashion is, and her fans fall for this. Kesha... I honestly don't know. Anyway, I prefer singers like Kerli, who is not too well-known and comes from Estonia, but I love her style (gothic lolita/doll type) and she isn't slutty. Not to mention her music is very diverse too. Enya is another favorite too, as well as Origa (Russian singer). For the most part, most of my role models are male, so I don't really have any female ones, yet.

I will just say this: Sexuality can be a fine topic in music, but it's not something I'd like for kids to listen/dance to. Edited: to clarify, I don't think YOUNG kids should have sexually charged music teens are another matter.
