True story. I was once on a bus in northern Pakistan, somewhere near Besham, and we had a flat. The driver pulled out the jack but it didn't work, so all the passengers hunkered down by the roadside.
Over a period of 30 minutes or so, first one car stopped, then another and another..... and then a minibus. Before long there were enough able-bodied men to lift the bus and stick rocks under it. The driver changed the wheel, the rocks were pulled out, and everybody went on their way.

I had lived in a rented house for a few years and built a traditional bamboo house, on concrete stilts, in the yard, to entertain guests and have drinking sessions. When I planned to leave that house I told the local people that I would donate it to the community if they could shift it to a patch of common land 100 yards away. One Saturday morning a couple of dozen men and boys turned up with long wooden poles. They stuck the poles under the house and with a cry of "Uno! Dos! Tres!" (strange how they revert to colonial Spanish when a labouring task is involved...) the house was lifted from its foundations and carried to the new site by twenty-odd staggering men.
It's still there and still in use.

We see this wherever we go. Cooperation among men seems to be a natural instinct.

What a pity that it can be easily subverted by unscrupulous people who preach non-cooperation by virtue of one fake ideology after another.

On 2 separate occasions my car wouldn't crank and on both occasions men stopped to help me. The funny thing is that both times it happened in the same exact place (when the men helped me). The first time an american white male, you know, the ones that everybody says oppresses everybody, he took the time to take a charger out of his car and get my car to crank. The second time, a Scotsman took the time to help me, even though to be fair his wife did tell him what was going on so technically she did play a role in helping me too. Both times when I offered money they turned it down and the Scotsman even told me that Scotsmen look out for one another.

I point these out just to make a point that we all intuitively know. Although it is rare it isn't as rare as it may seem that a man will stop to help his fellow man. It just so happens that in most cases there are no cameras around and we don't see it. This just happened to be a case where cameras were around.

I'm not saying that there are never good women that will help you. Once I missed the bus so I started walking home against the stinging cold winter wind. One of my classmates and his mom just happened to be headed towards me while I was walking and they stopped to pick me up and take me home.

Regardless of what people say about how men are destructive, there are far more men who are good people, who show everyone (not just their own sex) compassion, than those who are aggressively destructive (even though most men are probably passively evil because they share the attitude of the man who wouldn't stop to help a young man). Unfortunately, there are far more men who are passively destructive and show everyone but other men compassion.

The day that we show compassion indiscriminately will be the day that we can combat -isms, bigotry and division. That doesn't just mean for men to show everyone compassion indiscriminately regardless of creed, race, sex, etc. but that goes for women too, like the homeless woman in another video who stopped to help a man whom she thought was dying.

I'll put it this way, the easiest way to learn to love is to be loved.

So right! Why do we now need cameras to prove what we instinctively know?

Because when a society is really f**ked up it can't believe that basic human kindness still exists. The subversive agents can't believe they've failed. So, when cameras are around it's news.

Don't forget, most people walked on, they left him but in the same experiment helped a woman out in a matter of seconds/minutes.

It's good to be reminded that we still have humanity somewhere.

The time that sticks with me is when I came off my bike and was trapped under it on sharp bend, the engine had landed on my right calf muscle and stopped it moving. One moment the road was empty of people aside from myself.. the next, SEVEN people came from nowhere and helped lift the bike off me, get me to my feet and help divert traffic on the road to ensure no one sped around the corner while I was still there and others were helping.

That memory still has a haunting feeling to it.

Not only was Pops video soulfully invigorating, but isn't that the best CV ever for that young fellow. With a caring and positive can-do attitude he'll never be short of work or friends.

I believe the modern world has deterioated into a fearful place which belies the good that resides in many people. The overbearing state conditions people to become passive observers, rather than agents of change themselves. We're so overladen with bureaucracy, political correctness and health and safety, it stifles our humanity to do good unto others.
