Sci-Fi chit-chat
Us Trekkies gotta stick together. Bet you like Bev Crusher better than that bulldike played by Diana Muldaur, can't remember her name...

Re: Feminism and women who hate
No, I actually like Pulaski a little better but Crusher was good too. Crusher was underwritten, she had very little to do it seemed. That's why they dumped her in the second season. Fan demand brought her back though, I can't complain because if Pulaski has gotten 6 seasons, she may have turned into a horrible character. She was the second coming of Bones.

I like Star Trek Voyager but not because of the plot.
When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.

Re: Feminism and women who hate
Well, I haven't actually watched Farscape but I can say with certainty that Star Trek is the bigger, most popular and most influential franchise of the two.
I went back and watched TNG recently (for the 100th time in a 20 year period) and I found that it is a timeless, fantastic show. Voyager is actually better today than it was 10 years ago. Lack of commercials maybe. As you can tell from my name and avatar, DS9 rules.
Loving the new Doctor though."If Blizzard expects you to be always online to play their game. Then Blizzard need to always be online whenever you want to play it."- Unknown internet poster

Re: Feminism and women who hate
I was about to write out a lengthy reply to this, when suddenly, I saw...
So I figured I won't waste time repeating what Yan Yan's already said, aside from repeating it as a quote.
Just an FYI, I have no woman in my life and I have no issue with homosexuals. Just me and my kick-ass porn collection. And trust me, I don't turn to porn to ask what I should do.
Could you elaborate on this?
I'll stick with Doctor Who, even the old wobbly-sets of the 60s. I loved ST and FS though, but I'll be a Whovian at hearts.
I too enjoyed this series 15+ years back.
And the most money spent promoting it along with the numerous films and merchandise materials. Not that it's a bad thing, just making a point.

Re: Feminism and women who hate
I saw the first 3 or 4 seasons of the new Doctor Who. It wasn't too bad. I tried to watched the earlier stuff, but it's hard to find anything online over here in the states. StarGate is another one I like.
Even though this is seems to have gotten off topic from the original post, I believe this shows a difference between men and women. Here are some guys talking about which scifi show is the best and not ostracising anyone. I haven't seen too many women - feminists especially - do the same thing. Our society puts a premium on beauty; common in declining cultures.

Always seemed sluggish, that one.

Re: Sci-Fi chit-chat
Got a big kick out of Stargate Universe (Robert Carlyle's character is one of the best love-to-hate-him troublemakers in TV history, makes me think I should give ol' Doc Pulaski another chance), but couldn't get on board with any of the other Stargate stuff.
As for the other, I just didn't think I had the red dots coming. I don't reach for a big audience here and I'm not really out for approval, but claiming I am not liked by many just seems plain inaccurate. One way or the other I am outspoken, abrasive and as honest as I can manage. Whatever brought on the negative numbers, I think they are outweighed by the continuing positive or at least engaging responses my stuff gets here. My only real disappointment is not over the dots or the minus sign, but that I am having such a hard time getting hardcore dialogue going about the issue of parental abduction. That's not a criticism, just an observation. It is a huge problem, one of the mainstays of feminist policy norms, and also a felony that is routinely unprosecuted, at least in the US.
As far as my being an asshole (self-described, not a quote) that is hardly breaking news. But, if y'all could put Maggie Thatcher in power because of what she said and not how she said it (according to the movie anyway), maybe what I say makes some plain sense sometimes. Ruffling feathers is just a way of getting folks to focus on the message, not always the best one, but I don't think my style is so out of line in this venue as to be unwelcome, as a minority has apparently claimed. But, it's your site. You tell me what it takes to fit in here (not that I will, I'm just wondering who sets the norms and what the rules of compliance are when it comes to tone).skype: techno.skept

Can't forget about Ghost in the Shell. Awesome anime. And Armitage. A good story set. Although those are more cyberpunk than scifi.

Scorn and mockery towards men in need is one of the reasons feminism is dying as we speak!.
