Re: Favorite Sci-Fi Movies
Almost all forms of Dr Who, the 60s ones and even the 90s one was good.
The Matrix, knocked my socks off! (pt ii was good, but iii was crap).
Space Odyssey 2001, 2010 was a bit bland though.
The Black Hole.
Transformers ('86 holds nostalgia values for me as my nan took me on one of my birthdays) and the new '07 version just kicks ass big style.
War of the Worlds (50s) though the newer Tom Cruise wasn't too bad.
I've just woken up, so brain not functioning fully just yet... I'll get to it.►My blog / Your Blog

Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Re: Favorite Sci-Fi Movies
The scene that kills me everytime I watch it is when they are watching the monitors and they see themselves..... They keep looking at the monitors and then back to the camera... then Moranis says, "what the hell are we looking at!"
AHAHAHAHHAA KILLS ME!
As for Blade Runner.. I donno. Just somethign about it. And when the game came out, I bought it and played it trough a few times. It changes depending upon what you do in the game so it is different each time.... Based right from the movie.....

Re: Favorite Sci-Fi Movies
we watched a pretty gruesome film on saturday night called pan's labyrinth, it was kinda like an adult fairy tale set in the spanish civil war. Its about a young girl who is trying to hide herself away from the horrific situation she finds herself in by using her imagination and fairy stories. Really worth seeing but pretty disturbing all the same
If you want to know what macho men are like in spain, then watch that film.

@ Dr. David Banner
I LOVE 'Galaxy Quest'...so funny!
@ Fruit Cake
I saw 'Pan's Labyrinth' at the theatre and really liked it. Personally, I'd consider it more fantasy than Sci-fi, but it was really good, albeit graphic.
Speaking of graphic...I thought of another Sci-Fi movie I really liked, 'Starship Troopers'.

Re: Favorite Sci-Fi Movies
Despite the fact that I despise Tom Cruise, Minority Report was awesome.
Robocop was probably the one good movie that Verhooven ever made, and good sci-fi to boot.
A Clockwork Orange was a good dose of creepy along with good and influential sci-fi.
Gattaca was great, and horribly underrated.
Despite having feminist overtones, Alien and Aliens were great.
The Sixth Day was surprisingly good for an Arnie flick.
The film Next, even though I don't have much love for Nicholas Cage was surprisingly good.
On the bad side of things, Serenity was made by a humongous mangina, and is therefore IMHO the most overrated piece of shit that has ever been produced.
And since there's no television section, I'm going to add my all time favorite pick - the entire "Babylon 5" universe is some of the best sci-fi ever written. I consider it a modern tragedy that the "Crusade" series was screwed with the way it was.
*Groan* Poor Heinlein is doing cartwheels in his grave.A father is too valuable to waste.

Ahh, Babylon 5. Intellectual, intelligent, spiritual, political, heroic. Bit like me, really.
