The Book of Eli
Don't know how many of you are going to see the Movie “Book of Eli” but from the plot lines I have seen it appears to be a very male friendly movie. Or lest just say the lead character is in no was a Manginia pansy kissing up to female tail.
In fact what he is more like a old testament prophet, with a samurai sword and a sawed off 12 gauge shot gun.
So in that since Eli is very much the MGTOW. Another interesting aspect of the Movie seems to be the male view of religion, as opposed to the female view we get in every church these days.
Eli in the movie is basically a sort of loner warrior holy man. The male view being that it is religion is internal, faith. A women's view being it is about singing songs and feeling good.
But the thing I'm getting from the Previews is that Eli is the kind of guy that does not need or depend on other human beings for emotional support.
Especially Women
He is an independent operator.

Re: The Book of Eli
I haven't seen it yet but from what I've seen they are using Mad Max formula!
I think I'm going to enjoy that movie!
I suppose the main character has something in common with myself.

Re: The Book of Eli
Yet another friggin' 'end of the world' movie. Doom, catastrophe, ecological carnage brought about by wicked and stupid humans. Usually male humans.
Disregard tha fact that due to the largess, generosity, hard work and sheer intelligent appication of effort to problems, men have gradually improved every aspect of life and the world since we came down from the trees.
But we are afflicted with weenie-brained, unimaginative drongos in Hollywood who want to rubbish everything we do.
The 'Hero' is always and American. Have you noticed? Whether it is tidal waves, meteorites of friggin' snow, there is always an American shouldering his way through. And in this film 'Book of Eli' we are told that he is like an old testament prophet, with a samurai sword and a sawed off 12 gauge shot gun.
Which old testament prophet would that be, then? ?? ????
Really. Let's face it, if anyone can come through and take the leadership it is far more likely to be someone from a country other than America. After all 95% of the world lives elsewhere. So far all America seems to have done is lead its way further into the paper bag they made around themselves and were trying to get out of.
Friggin' Eli indeed.

Re: The Book of Eli
Ignoring your "effin America again" flavor Percy...
Did you ever think it is because...uhm... the movies are made BY Americans, IN America, WITH American actors, written BY American (screenplays) and made mostly with American money a good amount of the time? Thus the "hero" tends to be... uhm.. American? Hollywood, and most large movie companies are, you know... American...
In Dollywood, most, if not all of the stories told on the big screen are, with, by, and about Indians (or MI persons)... Stands to reason don't you think?
Think about it.

Re: The Book of Eli
I agree with you here, Percy.
I was unfortunate enough to sit through the worst movie ever made, "Knowing" starring Nicolas cage, and as you say, it's yet another end of the world-fest, where everything revolves round America. Anyway, this grotesque movie ends with aliens taking 2 young humans to a new planet (seriously) to start from scratch as the world they live in is about to end, and you'll never guess (well you probably will) who they decide is ideal for staring afresh, that's right, two white NY kids, not two Japanese, Norwegian, or even French kids, oh no, two American white New Yorkers.
Just because most movies are made in Hollywood does not mean the Americans have to always be the good guys, or even be in the movie at all, but it's not just Hollywood, anything made in Britain is usually set in London, it's a joke, and pretty tiresome I might add.Hugh & Mary Discuss Feminist Related Issues (ALL SUBTITLED): http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...0081D259987DCD

Re: The Book of Eli
I suppose it's easier.
Don't get me wrong, I think I'll give Eli (how do you pronounce that, eel-i, or elly?) a try, I like Denzel, and I like Mad Max, so it might be good.
The thing that irks me the most about Hollywood is the way they alter history, usually to make Americans look better, Titanic and that movie about the Enigma code, I can't recall it's name, are two examples, portraying the Captain of the Titanic, a man who died saving others, into someone who committed suicide because of the disaster going on around him, and in that Enigma movie it was Americans that cracked the code, it was British in reality, yet in the movie it was the Americans, things like that bug me, if a movie is made about an actual event, it should be accurate in my opinion.
I imagine that most Americans wouldn't watch, or pay to watch, a movie that only has foreigners in it, so it does make sense to appeal to their home audience, and figures don't lie, Hollywood is the most successful at making movies, and Americans in general excel when it comes to TV Drama, if only they'd lose those fake pearly whites that they all seem to have, I know clean teeth are essential, but glow in the dark teeth?Hugh & Mary Discuss Feminist Related Issues (ALL SUBTITLED): http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...0081D259987DCD

Re: The Book of Eli
I am not anti-American you weeny nig-nogs who have to take a bit of criticism personally.
I offered a friggin' statistical reason.
95% of people are not American.
TMOTS, Zuberi, grow up and have a cigar between you. Careful about inhaling.
As for Hollywood focusing on Americans - you make my point for me. They just do not see anyone else.

How many times do I have you old fart, I don't smoke!
Actually, Hollywood does see other people, but you're too senile to catch it! In fact some of the best actors in Hollywood come from many different nations! As for the post apocalyptic genre of movies, the world is going to end and you and I are going to die anyway!
There will be an after life for some of us, but the rest.........figure it out!

If I am senile, you need to be compassionate.but you're too senile to catch it!
Maybe you are hoping for Armageddon to happen before you get senile too. Thing is, if senility does get to you will anyone notice you have 'changed'?
