which way of quitting my job is more manly?

I'm getting pissed off at my boss and I'm kinda sick of my job anyway. I'm looking for a way out. What is the more manly way of doing it?

Option 1: Simply stop showing up to work. This would really screw the place over in the short term. I've always wanted to do it.

Option 2: Be overtly insubordinate to the point where they have no choice but to fire me. I.e: refusing to answer emails, not showing up for meetings, not following procedure and breaking department rules.

Option 3: Be passively insubordinate. I.e. Keep doing my job but just perform at a very low level and treat my boss with a cold disrespect.

At this stage I would like to go with Option 1 but the problem is that my mom would completely flip out and I don't want to deal with that shit. Also I want to make things as difficult as possible for the company and milk the paychecks for as long as I can. Also, if I get fired I may be eligable for unemployment whereas I definatly can't get that if I quit.

Option 2 sounds fun but really isn't any different than just outright quitting. My boss is not the type to back down if he thinks I am daring him to fire me.

That leaves Option 3 which on the surface sounds the least manly but might actually be the manliest of all. I can make things difficult for them without giving them an explicit excuse to fire me. That way I should be able to milk atleast another 2 weeks out of the job and when I do get fired I will be able to collect unemployment and just tell my mom that the company went out of business?

what do you think is the most manly?

I think it would be most manly to let them know you are not happy there and you will done working for them in 2 weeks. Then you could still use them as a reference too.

There is nothing manly about "Intentionally being and ass/fucking people over/milking the job for paychecks"

    MY $.02

    What Jack said!
Nor is gaming the system with false "injury" or "atmosphere" claims,
or "ensuring" an extended period of unproductive ease, solely on the backs
and sweat of others via. the state "unemployment" dole.

It only encourages them (companies and gum'mint) to espouse the too big to fail
mantra for "parental" cradle-to-grave socialism under the guise of attending to the needs of the "challenged" few.

Of course, if the shoe fits.........

Tell your boss you are not happy, give him 4 weeks notice, and if he wants you to go quicker, come to some arrangement that he lets you go,that it suits both your purposes.Do not go out like a bitch, all the 3 options above are those.

As much as you would like to fix their asses, you must act civil. If you don't, you'll wind up paying for it in the end. If you are being subjected to what is called "harassment", a lawyer can advise you of the hows and whys of the situation. If you have a good enough case, you can decide how you want to play your cards. The feminists exalted sexual harassment to the level of a sacrament, but overall harassment covers a wide range of behaviors (example: always getting crappy assignments, being given the work of two or more to be done by you alone, putting you down in front of colleagues, etc.).

Hmm, its your opinion and your certainly entitled to it.

But here's how it looks from an outside perspective.

You think your employer is fucking you so you want to fuck them, you somehow think you will suffer no repercussions later in life from such actions, but thats a gamble at best.

I'm sure you've seen Feminism defined as "The belief that women should be treated as big children." Well, Ironically enough you are acting like a big child.

From an outside perspective you seem to be acting like a big child.

Don't get me wrong, I too have been employed by people who I would day dream about fucking over, fwiw.

Not showing up to work would not only screw over the business, but this in turn would screw over you're fellow workmates. They have families to support!

You may not like the boss, but in the short term they will have to make up for you're absence, and who knows how it might affect the business in such a dire economic climate. On the same note, leaving/quitting a job now, you may find yourself in a much longer period of unemployment then you had planned.

If you're hellbent on leaving, departing on amicable terms and not unduly affecting others is a manly stance.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

Re: which way of quitting my job is more manly?

Let me put my cards on the table

My belief is that this current recession is a game changer that is going to bring down the entire Western world and the corporatist/wage-slave model that has dominated it since WWII. And make no mistake, what we are offered today really is wage slavery.

But let's say that this is just another recession, however bad. If that is the case than when the recovery comes I will be able to find a job in the field that I am currently studying in and will graduate from in a few weeks. And even if somehow I was never able to work again, so what? I live with my mom and stand to inheret millions of dollars should anything (God forbid) ever happen to her. So in any case, this job I have is not very important in the long run.

I believe in free markets. I oppose welfare, social security, medicare, medicaid and unemployment. I even oppose labor laws. But as long as all those things exist I have no problem using them against the Government and employers. If an employer screws me, I'm going to do everything in my power to screw them back.

As for my coworkers, none of them are supporting families and the only employee who would be screwed over by me not showing up would be my boss who would have to cover for me personally until a replacement could be found. And me not showing up certainly wouldn't cause the place to go out of business. In the first place, my position doesn't generate revenue, it is a necessary evil as far as the company is concerned. Secondly, the entire company is hemmoraging money anyway and I see it going out of business within a year no matter what if the economy continues to deteriorate (which I believe will happen).

Otis, the problem with the wage slavery thing is that the government also makes certain regulation that makes companies able to increase in size over the efficiency top thing. Anyway, you could jerk off on your boss' office supplies every morning. jk

You should bang the boss' wife/girlfriend and take pics and then mail them to him with a note saying that she was making up for the fact that he's underpaying you. :P

If not showing up for work is bad because it screws the other employees...then how will this strike in September work?

    The most manly way.

You do your work to the very best of your ability every moment you are there. That is Integrity and Character and Honesty.

You read 'What Colour is your Parchute' thoroughly and do all the exercises in it. That is Intelligent.

You write you plan, with sub goals. That is Wise.

When you are ready to implement your plan, you thank your employer for the work provided and resign as freinds. That's adult.

I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it.
But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up.
    I am outnumbered.
    But...
YOU don't just make a difference,
    you make THE difference.
