Re: Firefox 3.0 download day

Is it gonna be all changed up from what I'm used to, like Windows Vista was?

Don't know really. Better read the reviews first.

Re: Firefox 3.0 download day

Just in case anybody doesn't like the look of the new location bar drop down menu, aka "awesomebar", you can download an extension called 'oldbar' that makes it look more like the one you're used to.

Re: Firefox 3.0 download day

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5791

A nice little firefox add-on. Puts a flag in your status bar indicating the country where the server is located. Just a little extra protection against fake websites. (You can click on the flag to get more info).

Can give little surprises. When I visited dailymail.co.uk, the server turned out to be in Holland. Load balancing apparently. Or the English version of Wikipedia, when I access it, is located in the Netherlands. Not shocking, but still not something I realized.

When I visited standyourground.com I saw the Irish (!) flag in the status bar. Hosted in Dublin. Hadn't expected that.

Fun stuff.

But where is the installation link or the download link there? I went on searching and found one link but that downloads some .xpi file which does not install. It asks for program to select to open the file but works with neither options.

Figure out some tricks or methods if you know.

Anyways, thank you for the link and reply

Re: Firefox 3.0 download day

Lucky Me.
Mozilla "automatically" uploaded the updated version after I declined the invitation to "update now" OR "update later".
Apparently it happened at sign-off or reboot.
It seems OK, but ALL my bookmarks vaporized.
Wonder what was done to access, and lose, ALL my bookmarks?
I wonder how many "marketing, mining, and scanning" features are included-for your convenience, without bothering to mention it?

The more things change.............
I'll still use Firefox as my primary browser-grumbling the whole time of course.
