You know, the advertising industry should be boycotted like the whores they are...I always turn the sound off on TV commercials because I refuse to listen to the lies of Big Pharma, Big Food, Big Fitness and Big everything else. Women get bombarded with the freaking diet commercials like Nutrisystem, every few freaking minutes! Men get bombarded with crap about how they need to have a bigger penis/bigger abs/a bigger car, etc I think BOTH genders need to stand up and say, ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP!'' And a word of advice (to those who didn't already figure this out on their own): when you sign up for free email accounts (Yahoo, etc), and they ask you to tell what gender you are, BEWARE! Its so they can tailor spam and ads to you...females get diet ads, males get penis enlargement ads. I know because I purposely checked "male" once just to see if what a friend told me about this was true, and it is.

Any form of survey is taken with the explicit intention of tailoring a product or service of various forms to those genders. I studied psychology at college, and I recall a lesson I had which explained that any survey taken would usually be considerably larger than needed - the reason being is they want the 'truth' from you. e.g. if you had a survey asking: What sex? M/Fpeople would easily see the survey is about what types of cars people buy. So, they confuse the survey by adding stacks of crap around the survey - thus removing the focus.
