An unpleasant experience
24 Jul, 2008 - 9:34 PM - by frostyboy
I had a rather unpleasant experience this evening.

It happened during an evening walk (around 10:45pm), when I was walking down a secluded alley. It was pitch black - so dark that I was effectively temporarily blind.

I heard an unsettling noise - it sounded quite close - however, due to the darkness I couldn't see what was making the noise. Suddenly, an incredibly aggressive dog jumped at me seemingly from nowhere. I narrowly avoided being bitten.

The dog tried again to attack me, and I instinctively started running as fast as could in the opposite direction.

The speed at which I was running was very fast, however the dog decided to give chase, and he came very close to catching up with me. It was only when it's owner (somewhere in the distance) shouted "come back here", that it gave up.

I carried on running until I was a safe distance away. Thankfully the dog failed in it's attempts to bite me, however my sleeve was soaked in the dog's drool, which gives an indication of how close it came to succeeding.

This is the third dog attack that I have endured whilst out and about, during the past few months. I've also had a drunken idiot shout at me "you're a fucking c*nt", and a teenage boy call me a "wanker".

And feminists try to frame street harassment as something which affects only women. ... [Read More]

Jackie Fun I mean Chan
24 Jul, 2008 - 6:44 PM - by Feckless
Jeah I am a bit bored today and really have to distract me from a really fucked up day....so heres some stuff from Jackie Chan:

1. Jackie Chan in Tv Total a German Tv show the host interviews him in English so youŽll understand most of the stuff. Funny how Jackie explain how the did stuff in the old days....(hm we just guess can I jump that height ) sings a bit and is just a funny charming guy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyH-4UBAqoM

2. For the second one I have to explain a bit....but its worth it. Its a German Tv show where there a contestants who say they can do shit and popular people who have to bet if they can do this or not. If our stars placed the wrong bet they have to do some embarassing things. Well heres the bet the girl in the Video says she can break stones with an egg in her hand without destroying the egg 3 out of 5 times. Jackie Chan the tough ass he is says she canŽt do this but he can. So see what happens. (note: You wonŽt understand a word (as Jackie speaks mandarin and german voice is dubbed in but this really doesnŽt matters)

The prostate cancer 'wonder pill' set to save thousands every year

The prostate cancer 'wonder pill' set to save thousands every year

Quote:
British researchers have made a dramatic breakthrough against a lethal form of prostate cancer.
Trials of a new pill have shown that it can shrink tumours in up to 80 per cent of cases, and end the need for damaging chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Experts hailed the advance as potentially the biggest in the field of prostate cancer for decades, capable of saving many thousands of lives.
Scientists believe the technique could also be effective on other tumours, such as breast and bowel cancers.
The drug, abiraterone, was discovered by researchers at the Royal Marsden Hospital in South-West London.
Their leader, Dr Johann de Bono, said patients there had been able to control the disease with just four pills a day and very few side-effects.
Prostate cancer is Britain's most common cancer among men and the second highest killer, after lung cancer. Some 35,000 people a year are diagnosed with it - and 12,000 die.

Three US women priests to be ordained, excommunicated

by Marcia Scott-Harrison Sun Jul 20, 12:12 AM ET

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AFP) - Three women are to be ordained as priests Sunday here in one of American's most Catholic cities, but they will face automatic excommunication by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese.

The trio is to be ordained in a ceremony performed by a woman at a Protestant church affiliated to the US Presbyterian Church and the United Church of Christ, in Boston's first female ordination.

Men being men .. going their own way
19 Jul, 2008 - 2:10 AM - by julie

This last week TV show; 'back of the 'Y' showed a clip where 4 women; one at a time came on with their heads bleeding from abuse. It was an ad to promote funding for women shelters.

Looked identical to the ads women's refuge use.

But the end showed the result of the abuse.

Closing down sales. Yeap, they are ruthless for women.

Anyhow, nothing is off topic for these guys. Here are some of their shows.

New dads can experience post partum depression, too
18 Jul, 2008 - 2:10 AM - by TERA
By Marilyn Elias, USA TODAY

Fathers of 9-month-olds are about twice as likely as other men their age to show symptoms of major depression, which also can hurt their children: Depressed fathers read less to their kids, and the children know slightly fewer words by age 2, a study suggested Tuesday.
Depression in mothers is known to hamper children's academic performance and mental health. But the study on fathers, presented at the American Psychiatric Association meeting in Washington, D.C., is among the first to suggest that fathers' depression in early childhood affects children.

In the study, 10% of the dads with 9-month-olds had symptoms that met the criteria for clinical depression, says James Paulson, study leader and a psychologist at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. That compares with 5% for U.S. men the same age, he says.
"Anybody who's had a baby knows it can be intensely stressful and intensely pleasurable at the same time," Paulson says. "The man may feel increased financial demands, fatigue from a loss of sleep, a change in his relationship with the woman — any of these could contribute to depression."

If the ecstasy side of new parenthood doesn't also kick in, a dad may interact less with his baby, Paulson says. Depressed fathers read less to their children at ages 1 and 2... [Read More]

The beginning of the new era
17 Jul, 2008 - 9:41 PM - by julie
My is one of my favourite songs ever.... Phil Collins rocks. Nothing less.

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord
I've been waiting for this moment, all my life, Oh Lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord

Well, if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before my friend
But I don't know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off the grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies

And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord
I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord
I can feel it in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
And I've been waiting for this moment all my life, Oh Lord, Oh Lord

Well I remember, I remember don't worry
How could I ever forget, it's the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you don't fool me
The hurt doesn't show; but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you or me

And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord...
