    How's Your country doing?

    A site I visit every day is J J Ray's 'PC Watch'.

I often (almost daily) go to several of his other 'watch' sites too.

Jon J does a fabulous job trawling the world for his daily updates, posting as many as 20 different pieces each day.

He is a retired Psych, like I am, but far more productive.

He pointed out recently his view (in brief intro to an article by someone else) that in his view Oz is probably the best place in the world to live.

For Societal Well-Being, Marriage is Foundational

I think that there is much truth in what Marybeth Hicks says below but, given the way current divorce laws are weighted against men both in the USA and Britain, a man would have to be mad or seriously under-informed to marry in those countries. No wonder many men "won't commit". It could be financial suicide. I myself have been married four times with no real adverse outcomes -- but I do live in Australia, which is a much more relaxed and hence saner society than most of the rest of the world

Nice to see a chap take a positive POV, even by a default.

I haven't been as frequently down the aisle as JJ (only twice) but was thoroughly cleaned out both times. The Family Court and Divorce laws here are, to my mind, amongst the worst in the world, but that may just be a 'personal experience; bias.

Add to that the Oz populace's insistence on voting for socialists and feminists, and we have a pretty awful political system intent on keeping the average chap in distress.

But we have the very best beaches; and only 20 million in a Continental sized country that is as big as the USA; and a strong economy (being weakened by the day by those socialists and feminists in power that I mentioned). In fact our standard of living is the best in the world and even a piss-poor ruined chap like wot I am can live in modest comfort on a sniff of an oily rag.

Even James Delingpole, a British Journo who is here on a speaking tour has said (as almost all visitors here say) that he would love to live here, but he cannot understand why it is that a nation built on and by the most independant and resourceful MEN the world has seen, have capitulated to the PC infection so abysmally.

    [QUOTE]

I said the other day what a marvellous achievement it was, the way those early generations of Aussies turned a relentless hell into a fair approximation of paradise on earth. What I see now, however, is a fair proportion of the current generation doing their damnedest to reverse the process.

You can't move a car to a different state without having to submit it to about A$400 worth of checks to make sure it's roadworthy. You can't run a fishing boat without having about 12 different permits.

You can't light a barbie pretty much anywhere unless you have at least two fire crews on hand with no less than 3,000 gallons of water, plus a doctorate in health and safety with regards to preparation of raw-meat products.

You can't kill a crocodile even though their populations are expanding so fast they'll soon be overtaking humans.

You can't study at"Uni" without doing a mandatory course module explaining what you're studying from the point of view of the "Traditional Owners" – (the people formerly known as Aborigines).

You can't earn a living as a fruit farmer in the Murray Darling basin because a bunch of Eco Fascists from the WWF sayyou can't. You can't open a mine without being told that what you're doing is theft because, like, man, natural resources belong to everyone.

You can't chopdown the trees on your land because they're a "carbon sink" now, fulfilling Australia's obligations under the Kyoto protocol to deal with the non-existent problem of CO2 (a plant food). You

can't have a thriving economy because that might discriminate against all the lazy bastards who don't want to work so what you have to do is shackle it and hobble it with a mining tax and a carbon tax in order to redistribute wealth
in the guise of "saving the planet."

I could go on. (Our own
Ozboyhas some further trenchant views on this subject)

Pretty much the same here, it seems that everything you do here now requires a CRB check, I have two of them and I'm not sure why one wasn't enough, I guess I must look extra suspicious so they may be transporting me off to the colonies soon

A recent annoying story here was over the water, parts of the country have been in drought for quite some time but over the last few weeks we've had enough rain to float an ark yet those parts in drought are still in drought due to the fact that it is the wrong kind of rain .......... lol!

Yeah, I got caught in the very hard rain a few days back... Some call it hail. I thought God was trying to torture me with the Chinese 'death by a thousand cuts' method, but more 'Death by a thousand hail bombs'.

The most offensive thing you can do to a feminist is treat her with FULL equality.
Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

[Apologies for a late reply. The links that Percy provided kept me busy with comments.]

Over the years I've written much about the situation of western men marrying Filipina women and don't want to go back over old ground.
In the Phils there's no divorce and no divorce-industry. Annulment is possible but it's lengthy and expensive - only for film stars. In the great majority of cases marital problems have to be solved at community level.

Some history: Changes came with the election of ('Saint') Cory Aquino, after the US deserted Ferdinand Marcos as "their boy" in the Far East. She rode to popularity on the back of sympathy for her assassinated feudal-lord husband.
Despite the fact that more people "disappeared" during her six-year rule than Marcos's eighteen year rule, she still managed to pass a new constitution that affirmed women's rights as "nation builders. The "Family Code" was revised, but as usual it was generally ignored. Her dependence for political authority relied on support from her (beloved) Catholic church, which accorded more rights to competent husbands and fathers. The 'paterfamilias' still holds sway unless it can be proved in court that the father is somehow undeserving.

    So where are we now?

Beautiful, young and sexy Filipinas are ten-a-penny. Why would some dumbshit westerner want to throw money at just one of them? - Because 50 years of western feminism has told him that he's just an inadequate ATM machine.
Filipinas are not stupid. But what could be better than a stupid western husband?

    Re: How's Your country doing?

    Part II:

V.A.W.A (Philippine version) - Republic Act 9262 was passed by congress on March 8th 2004.

In a country with no divorce and no welfare state it makes no sense at all. But as usual, in the headlong suicidal rush to imitate the dysfunctional US, it was passed.

It does have consequences for ex-pat men that marry a Filipina and settle in the Phils. Under the Constitution, foreigners cannot own land. So if you build a mansion for your lovely wife, it's basically hers and hers alone. As in the west, VAWA can exclude you from the house that you paid for.

There are ways around these problems but most western men don't take the trouble to find out what they are.
His beautiful young wife pours his drinks and gives him a massage - his brain turns to mush.

Western men, for all their proud posturing, just keep letting things happen.
