Honestly, I don't think it's racist for samofsons to call it like he sees it in texas...just because he doesn't approve of mexican families that are way over a reasonable size, does not mean he has a problem with all mexican families. I personally think the amount of children people can have should be limited, after which they are sterilized. I also think you should need to apply for a license to have each kid for various reasons. Does that make me a racist too?

I'm not sure whether that qualifies as racism or not.. but we want the government control OUT of our lives, not more involved as you would suggest.

EDIT: Keep in mind that a license would required to show consent of the father to BE a father as well. It would also require that there be a paternity test at birth. These are part of what I think should happen with a birthing license.

Adapting current licenses (e.g. birth certificate) is one thing, but you wrote it as if a new license should be implemented purely for the number of children and nothing else. If we could adapt the B/C to state a father's biological ties to the children, then that would be a good thing as it could help curtail the growing numbers of paternity fraud.

I just find it a pity for these kids. They don't stand a chance of being pushed in any kind of productive direction. Lets hope some one will notice these two boys. Kind of take them under their wing. Its sadly to late for the other 8 girls. They will sadly do as mommy does. Spew out kids to reap maximum benefits. Look carefully at these children, they don't seem very well nourished. Only the mother has good color. Kids this pale obviously don't get out much.

I wonder if they all had the same father. If so, what sane man would do this to children.

Marx, two parents will not be able to give 10 children the attention and love that they need...1 parent alone has NO CHANCE IN HELL of properly raising 10 children. Not only that but population growth is ridiculous enough already. Besides, how many families of ~10 children do you know that have not been on benefits? Usually, as income and education increase, amount of children decreases.

The easiest way to take care of the family issue is to simply get rid the darn welfare state. Personally, I don't care about the race. But why should I subsidize someone's family? Less government involvement means "STOP SUPPORTING THE FAMILIES WHO CAN'T DO FOR THEMSELVES". We do not need to regulate the number of children people have, just the access to taxpayer resources these people have grown to feel entitled to.

If a family can afford to have 5 or 50 children then more power to them, but make them do it themselves. Cut the tax breaks for for popping out 6-10 kids and make people responsible for their personal decisions.

I guarantee the number of young single mothers out there would drop drastically if all state support was cut off. I also guarantee that these welfare families would quickly become a thing of the past if free market forces were applied to society across the board.

The interesting thing is that there would probably be a return to the the extended family culture. The families would be responsible for taking care of themselves, and their stake in the community around them would increase. They would WANT their local communities to bastions of peace and prosperity because their livelihoods would depend on it. The abolition of the welfare state would FORCE individuals to become involved with their neighbors down the road, or in the apartment next door. This would increase competition and innovation in small businesses, employ more people, and actually increase overall tax revenue for the state, even at lower percentages of the current income and sales tax rates.

Tell me....how many of you have really gone up and introduced yourselves to the people around the block? How many of you know the family a couple houses down? How many of you know who owns the corner shop? Western Culture has become a bastion of isolation instead of involvement because we have allowed the government to subsidize laziness and frivolous spending, instead of hard work and thriftiness. We have cut ourselves off from each other. And that, my friends, only makes us easier to control.

Those families that are struggling through no fault of their own (disaster, disease, act of God), would be able to turn to private charities in their local community to help them pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. The community itself would have a vested interest in making sure everyone is gainfully employed...if for no other reason than they do not want hungry thieves roaming the street.

Only if their access to child support and/or alimony was also cutoff. Otherwise these would simply replace whatever state benefits are currently given. We all know that a man doesn't even need to be the actual father to be required to pay, even if he has proof! -_-
