Domestic Violence Awareness

While going through my google searches, I came across this link .

I thought, "That's interesting. They're just looking at one side of the problem, but I'm sure such an important study would have its opposite counterpart. I think I'll check it out." So I did the inevitable: I clicked on the link.

Here is what I found:
09.23.07 When Men Murder Women: An Analysis of 2005 Homicide Data

When Men Murder Women: An Analysis of 2005 Homicide Data (PDF; 341 KB)

Source: Violence Policy Center From press release:

The Violence Policy Center (VPC) today released When Men Murder Women: An Analysis of 2005 Homicide Data. This annual report details national and state-by-state information on female homicides involving one female murder victim and one male offender. The VPC releases the study each year to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

In 2005, according to the most recent data available from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s unpublished Supplementary Homicide Report, 1,858 females were murdered by males in single victim/single offender incidents. Where weapon use could be determined, firearms were the most common weapon used by males to murder females (887 of 1,713 homicides or 52 percent). Of these, 72 percent (637 of 887) were committed with handguns.

In cases where it could be determined if the victim knew her offender, 62 percent of female homicide victims (976 of 1,574) were wives or intimate acquaintances of their killers. Nevada ranks first in the nation in the rate of women killed by men. Ranked behind Nevada are: Alaska, Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi, Arkansas, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, and Oklahoma (see chart below). Nationally, the rate of women killed by men in single victim/single offender instances was 1.32 per 100,000.
I, of course, had to leave a comment, which may or may not be deleted. I'm not familiar with the website, and don't know their policies.
Oh, come ON! I get so tired of the double standards I see every time I look around. Truly, it makes me so very weary.

Why in God's name is a report about men killing women released every year just in time for Domestic Violence Awareness month? That makes no sense at all, unless your primary motivation is to spread more misandry by perpetuating the myth that all, or even most, domestic violence is done by men to women.

According to a study published by the CDC in the May 2007 Journal of Public Health,

"Regarding perpetration of violence, more women than men (25 percent versus 11 percent) were responsible. In fact, 71 percent of the instigators in nonreciprocal partner violence were women. This finding surprised Whitaker and his colleagues, they admitted in their study report."

You can find an abstract of the report here.

Not only that, but as we all know, women are physically weaker than men. This is the reason why so many of their (women's) attacks are done while their victims (men) are asleep, and why they use weapons more often than not. The excuse is always given, "If I'd tried to defend myself or leave while he was conscious, he would have killed me." While I have no doubt that there are some very bad men out there, the vast majority of men are not batterers. Nor are they killers. Or control freaks.

This kind of one-sided reporting has got to stop! ALL domestic violence is bad, not just that committed by the male on the female.
I was getting ready to go on, but I thought I'd rather post any more ranting about it right here in my blog. I don't know what kind of traffic hotgovdocs gets, but I KNOW people will see it here.

I read during this same week that Mary Winkler has been granted visitation to her children. This is after she served four months, and had a guest appearance on Oprah! What would happen to a man who did what she did?

Oh, wait. Wasn't there some guy who killed his pregnant wife, and then dumped both the bodies in the bay or some such? What was his name again? Oh, yeah. Scott Peterson. He of the life prison sentence.

"Oh", I hear you say, "but he didn't kill her in self-defense. That was a pre-meditated murder."

You got me there, oh boy. You're absolutely right. Scott Peterson killed Lacey Peterson and their unborn child in cold blood, and dumped their bodies, according to his pre-made plans. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. You won't get any argument from me about that.

Killing someone in self-defense means that if you don't kill them right now, you will be dead right now. Mary Winkler shot her husband in the back, with a pump shotgun, while he was asleep. Even if you accept that she thought she had to kill him that way to escape him, because she lived a life of horror, it still isn't self-defense. But I for one don't accept that premise. There is no evidence that Mary Winkler was abused. The very idea of it only came out after she was in custody for murdering her husband. The people who knew her best say there was never any indication that she was abused. Her husband wanted her to dress kinky for sex? So what??

The only reason the sentences for these two animals are so disparate, is because Scott Peterson is a man, and Mary Winkler is a woman. And she said she was abused.

The idea that men are rapists and abusers, and women are their unwitting victims, is repeated to us daily in the media, and in the schools, and in the churches, and everywhere that people gather and information is disseminated. These two murder cases are only another example of it.
Domestic Violence Awareness. Yeah, right.

Re: Domestic Violence Awareness

Hi Kelly,

I hope you don't mind if I write about something similar since I don't know how to post something myself. But I desperately need feedback. I can't watch these videos because I have limited Broadband.

But this video is talking about research that my city is big on and I personally know one of the females that did this research. There were 2 of them) One is my enemy on the ground but my friend because we HAVE to work together. And she works for the council. They have fought hard against other University researches to bring it out. Now that it is out, what is it telling me. I am only asking for assistance because I cant see it. And my group is the only group standing against them on the ground in the city. And most likely the only Nationally as we are not political.

How selfish of me Kelly, I know. But I am hoping you will help me out.

It will take some time but I would appreciate it.

Check this link and comments. Please.

Julie, I'm trying to bring it up, but it just keeps loading forever. I'll do the best I can

And it's not selfish. We're all in this together.

Kelly, UN on the site is a political party. One who is sticking up for men. The male who is writing speaks to a women politician who speaks up for men. Read what I wrote to him on the comments and what he wrote back. That may help you o see the video.

You are so cool for this.

Re: Domestic Violence Awareness

Kelly, I have been thinking and talking to a few other women. It may be best to leave this to the researchers to argue over. I think these women are a bit too tough for us. Maybe they will one day come on sites like this and argue it out. But for now they are not opened minded by the looks of things.

But thanx for trying. Sooner or later we will here if the law has become stricter on DV.

Re: Domestic Violence Awareness

Julie,

I still can't get the video to work.

There's a philosophy I picked up very early on - play to the lurkers. We will never convince the devout feminists, and it's pointless to try. We use them as foils for our arguments, and hope to reach the ones who watch, the ones who perhaps haven't made up their minds yet. The ones who have open minds. That's all we've ever done.

Re: Domestic Violence Awareness

Getting comments from all over the spectrum:
Ghost said... Very good point. I used to work in journalism and there is a basic rule to remember and that is that the audience is majority-female.

You have to write to what they expect to hear. Men=bad, women=good. Also, for every article you write which is positive about minorities or women, you really must do at least one article against white men to "show balance".

This has moderated in recent years, but the attitude is still very prevalent.
8:19 AM gwallan said... @Kelly

Instead of highlighting the disparity in the punishments given to offenders it may be worthwhile to sometimes look at it only from the victims perspective.

As an example I've been looking recently at the sentences given to female sex offenders in Australia. The media here have occasionally highlight the different punishments given to offenders based on their gender. The real predictor of punishments, however, is the gender of the victim.

In Aus, apart from the state of Queensland, the only way for a female sex offender to get jail time is to abuse a female.
7:49 PM Anonymous said... You know what. Fuck you. You obviously have no fucking idea what its like do you?? You ever seen a woman cry because she was beaten by her beloved in front of her children? Ever seen a woman battered and bruised because of the man she loves? Ever seen a child cry out of fear because their daddy is hurting their mummy?? Ever seen a woman cry because she is afraid to leave their husband cause he will just hunt her down and beat her?? Ever seen a woman afraid to talk about these sorts of things out of the shame and humiliation that it brings??? yeah, well fucking open your eyes you stupid bitch. Fuck stick. What the fuck do you know? Nothing thats what. When you seen shit like this, heard shit like this, then open your fucking mouth. And watch, you wont post this up or reply to this. And i know why, "oh there was to much swearing, it was to one sided, it made men look bad". You know, seriously fuck you. This sort shit hurts people the world over, its affected me, its affected people I know, and for you to sit there in your comfy little chair at home, feeling safe and secure, bitching about a campaign that promotes the stop of this shit, makes me wanna puke. You have no fucking idea.

9:07 PM Anonymous said... Bravo. You posted my comment, didn't expect that. Well done. But you haven't responded to it. Didn't expect you to though.
9:51 PM KellyMac said... Clair,

I was repeatedly molested and raped during my childhood, to the point where my personality fractured to protect my sanity. I'm only now starting to remember my life - I've had almost total amnesia because of it. Don't think you can sit there and tell me I don't know what violence is like at the hands of men. I do. In spades. I also know that it is a small minority of men who do this, yet we paint every human being with a penis as a potential batterer and/or rapist.

If you would care to go back and read what I wrote, you will see that I actually have no problem with women victims being helped. What I have a problem with is the lack of help available for men victims. We don't even acknowledge that there ARE male victims. And when a man kills a woman, he is punished far more severely than a woman who kills a man. That can only mean one thing - we as a society value the lives of women more than we value the lives of men. How is that equality? Revenge, yes. Equality, not so much.

I am not bitching about the campaign to stop domestic violence. What I am bitching about is the fact that they only want to stop SELECTED domestic violence. If it were really about what they say it is about, they would want to stop ALL domestic violence.

When, and if, you are ever able to work through your rage and let it go instead of feeding it with hatred of half the human race, you may find a measure of peace. I hope you do.
10:13 PM KellyMac said... Jebus, give me a chance, woman!

Yes, on the surface of it, but clearly the law differentiates and clearly the feminazi movement makes a big deal about what it calls "violence" between folk in a close personal relationship and violence between "strangers.."

Now, it seems that they wish to focus on "close relationship violence" as being the most important matter, and this is the key towards their family destruction policy, which is probably better described as a pro-"feminised" family..

So, the state police forces and courts are making great efforts in splitting up relationships that they should not be doing, logically speaking, because in my opinion..

1. Close relationships, friends, family etc, usually exist under an unwritten "understanding" that there will be give and take, that personal space rules etc are relaxed..

2. What is considered and felt to be "violent" or "abusive" or "threatening" behaviour when it occurs between strangers, is not necessarily, or even likely, to be considered thus when it occurs between those in a close personal relationship..

For example, If i was to stalk a woman in the woods and jump out on her and give her a "shock" then it would of course be regarded as a dreadfully thing if it was not actually my wife, or someone else who would realise that such behaviour was "acceptable" in view of my already accepted code of bizarre behaviour.. It only suddenly becomes unacceptable following the brainwashing of the DV lobby..

When folk talk about DV, if they are women, they especially talk about the more extreme examples, where of course, "violence is violence".. No one can really justify, for example, murder or serious injury.. (But of course, women use the common "petty" examples of DV to justify and excuse Androcide by women who have had a few harsh words spoken to them that have hurt their feelings while they had PMT)..

What seems to differentiate the mens movements idea of what DV is from what the feminazi's use is that the men movement seems to practically exclusively use the most petty examples..

If a woman snots you, then snot her back.. Simple.. sorted...

(Even better, just walk away and put it down to experience!)

And lets get the useless pork puppets to concentrate on the real job of stopping the real crime, not finding work that the sows can do that results in large scale family destruction..

Fact is, "DV" will always occur and the issues will always exist even if they are shifted elsewhere..

Forcing couples apart for petty reasons can be seen to result in higher risks and more violence in the next generation..

Human aggression will never be stopped, it is a natural and often very useful feature that has enabled Homo Sapiens to dominate nature and paradoxically control much violence..

If a person is sufferring "DV" then they can always get help..

The state is probably not the best source of help..

Family, friends and community usually have a be
