    Chase Farm Hospital : Enfield

    NHS, A cutback too far!

Save Chase Farm Public Meeting to discuss the latest situation-
    Saturday 30th Jan 2010 at 2pm.
At St George's Church Hall London Road Enfield.
    All are welcome!
Next to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St George's Church. Opp St Ann's Catholic School for girls. 5 minute walk from Enfield Town Station.

Accident & Emergency, Childrens and Maternity services at Chase Farm Hospital are now scheduled to be downgraded. Many people could die as a result.
This mini blog is designed to reveal the plight of Chase Farm Hospital and other parts of the NHS being dismantled systematically throughout the country against public interest!
I have a vested interest in Chase Farm as my birth place 51 years ago, but sentimentality aside it cannot be right that a long established hospital is making way for so called Urgent Care Centres and whilst it is accepted the old hospital's infrastructure is in need of modernisation it has the reputation as the fastest responding A&E department Britain which is particularly useful in this highly populated area of North London/South Hertfordshire dissected by the busiest stretch of our motorway system! It also houses a major stroke trauma centre , and maternity unit at a time of baby boom and what if swine flu gets out of control or other future viruses? Part time UCC's will never take up the slack, where often there is not even a Doctor on duty during their limited opening hours, as I was to find out when I was taken ill over Christmas instead of going to the 'closed' UCC 2 miles away or even Chase 5 miles away, I ended up 12 miles away at the QE2.
Now consider the plight of people if the void was left in the absence of Chase Farm Hospital. http://savechasefarm.co.uk/
I must pay tribute to Ivy Beard who has campaigned tirelessly for the past 6 years to try to maintain this crucial facility and you can see her on video pleading her case if you click on the blog title and I will invite Ivy to post bulletins here so to keep us up dated on how the campaign progress, please leave your comments below or in my Guestbook at the sidebar (left)

So what is the function and purpose of these 'urgent care centers,' and why does the government feel that their importance exceeds that of an existing hospital? Actually, never mind. I think I see what this is about. Typical government movie, always trying to cut back their responsibilities to the public, a little of the top, just a little, but they keep going back and next thing you know there's nothing left in the bucket.
