Hi guys!
Hi everyone! I am a new member, but have been lurking here for a couple of months beforehand.
I will be straight with you guys - I used to consider myself a feminist. I didn't really talk to other feminists or anything, but I read the definition (they supposedly seek equality) and thought "Yep, that's me". Then I started to get annoyed that feminists were generalizing too much and did not seem to be considering men's issues at all. I might have been young and naive, but I was smart enough to realize that not all men were more powerful than all women as they claimed.
So over the next few months I did some research on feminism. My reaction:
I couldn't believe my %#^&$&# eyes! Not only were governments supporting this sexist policy, but they were actively covering up any statistics or cases that might contradict it! That was the day I lost faith in modern western governments. Also, I live in Australia, and our current government over here didn't exactly help to assuage my concerns :P
So yeah, I joined because I wanted to lend support to creating equality of opportunity for all people, not a select few

Re: Hi guys!
I never considered myself a feminist.. Never took any of that crap seriously, even as a young boy in the primary school playground I knew there was a big difference between boys and girls.. (Basically, you don't hit girls and girls don't play boys games, such as conkers, piss highest up the wall, etc..)..
Because I never subscribed to what was a clearly ridiculous concept, "equality" in all its forms and so many other silly ideas that flew in the face of nature and could only be laughed at in the main..
I never developed a subsequent feeling of disappointment, or anger, at what some folk could think of as a "betrayal" of my youthful trust in this system..
So, for me, feminism is not the cause of all mens problems..
Its a tool, used by the oppressors to control human activities, using the male desire to please and impress women for "obvious" objectives, (AKA grovelling to the holy axewound) and also the female tendancy to gullible shortsightedness and stupidity at grasping at anything that seems to serve their immediate desires..
The state loves feminism as by pretending all folks are "equal".. (i.e. very low status) they can rule by being the casting vote in ever decision made between a male and a female or groups thereof.."Women...

I have often wondered why so many MRA's seem to be so similar to the feminists, yet have such a strong dislike for them! I guess its a classic love/hate relationshit!

Re: Hi guys!
I also agree that absolute and perfect equality cannot exist in the same way that identical twins are not exactly identical, but I feel it is my duty to get the world as close to it as I can. Tying into your post, I find that the main for the hypocrisy of feminism stems from the fact that in almost every area of life men naturally have more variance then women. Men have more geniuses and idiots, more super-rich and homeless, or as you said those that rule and those that fall. Women seem to be closer to the average in each case. There is an APA article called "Is there anything good about men?" that provides good reasons for this.
The feminists (and now governments and the media) seem to only look at the top 10% (or think that is the only section that matters) which is dominated by men. Thanks to guys like yourselves, however, the public is starting to wake up to the fact that this small section is not an accurate picture of the world.

Re: Hi guys!
Some of us are fine with the notion of equality... While feminists 'claim' to support equality, their actions prove otherwise.
Take the English law review for rape that came up not so long back. The only group that cried foul was feminists. Why? Because they didn't want women to have 'that sort' of equality...
Currently, rape is defined as penetration. The changes put forward which offended feminists so much was to the effect that women would finally charged with rape if they had sex without consent - with a man or a woman. At this time, no woman can be charged with rape unless she uses a weapon and anally rapes a man (or vaginally/orally/anally a woman). Feminists don't want women having equality with men in this case because it doesn't benefit women to do so.
Their actions demonstrate they simply want the benefits that men are perceived to have, along with the benefits women are perceived to have - leaving men with all the negatives associated with being men AND the negatives associated with being female.
Looking at what they support clearly shows this.
I wouldn't actually dislike feminism IF the people who affiliate with it would just tell the damn truth and state they want superiority instead of equality.►My blog / Your Blog

Re: Hi guys!
Judge a man, (or a feminist) by his (or her) actions not their words.. Whatever the feminists claim to be about, the results of their successes in changing the way things are speaks for itself.. You surely cant suddenly like feminists if they started claiming that they want females supremacy? That would be like saying you like those extreme feminazi types who say just that?
Whether a group demands something patently impossible, (such as equality) or something patently undesirable (such as female superemacy) it is just as bad either way..
What makes it bad in my view is that they want the state to enforce their looney ideas upon everyone regarldess or not they agree to it..
The example of the rape law is one of those clear areas where it is not possible to have a realistic concept of "equality" applied..
Somethings are pretty specifically male issues, others female issues..
Trying to make them the same and "equal" is where both feminists and the MRA's make the gravest errors..
Pretty much everything that is an issue in the "sex war" is related directly to major differences between men and women, and the dumbassed notion that they can be glossed over in some hermophradising agenda..
Who does it fool in the long run to pretend that the masses of men and women can be treated as if they are hermophradites?
You wouldnt try and feed a lion the same diet as a donkey, common sense dictates that they are too different to apply the same rules to them..
Same with men and women in so many vital areas of difference..
Added after 7 minutes:
Why?
Would you like everyone to have the same income, be the same height, be uniform in every way?
The whole driving force of pretty much every human on the planet is to be BETTER than others, not the same as them..
Only losers and dimwits want to be "equal" with others, because, of course, they are LESS than others!
Once they have achieved that "equalness" (which they cant really anyway, because it has to be done for them because they cant do it for themselves!) they will then want to be BETTER than those they still are competing with...
It amazes me that after many years in the cause, some folk have not learned even the most basic realities of where they are going wrong.. and why they can never, ever, progress towards anything useful and worth having for those they claim to be "fighting" for..
Hermophradism is the goal of the mens movement..?

Re: Hi guys!
I think I may have not brought my point across correctly. I do not believe in forcing equality of outcome upon people (same income, clothing, etc. like communism), but I believe in giving all people equal opportunity to succeed. Then each person proceeds to enter regular competition with each other like in a capitalist society - it is just the initial conditions that I believe should be made approximately equal. People who worked harder or had more talent in a certain area would still do better than others who did not, but it would stop certain people from having no chance to contribute to society as everyone would start on a level playing field.

Re: Hi guys!
I have to agree unreservedly with Felix. All this talk of 'eekwalitee' is a hiding to nothing.
However rejecting the socialist agenda does not mean that we cannot still retain humanitarian ideas of morality, honour and compassion.
Vive la difference!

Re: Hi guys!
If every one has an equal opportunity to achieve, there would be no motivation to achieve the impossible. Without any resistance, why would any one try to do anything? It is the people who go against what is commonly believed as fact that end up discovering advanced and progressive technology. It is not those who have grown up in an well cared for environment who have been most influential in our technological advancement; it is those who have learned to work from an early age who have developed the future. One example is Stephen Hawking.
We don't need a society that builds equality, we need one that enhances our differences. Without uniqueness we are nothing more than complicated dolls. One factor that makes the android such an attractive item is its' relative simplicity to a human. I don't want to be an android, I like being human. Our society puts a premium on beauty; common in declining cultures.
