EDIT:TERA as usual has no idea what she's talking about. It's like me deciding I want to be a housewife and homeschool my children and after we marry and I concieve the children of a man he quits his job and tells me to go out and work. Basically, MM's wife made an OATH and COMMITTED HERSELF to doing something. Breaking that oath just proves that she's a shitty person. Also, it's not like he can quit his job if she doesn't make enough. What she did is called betrayal and people who do this in a marriage should lose any right to the inside the marriage assets and keep just what they earned and custody of the children.
But everyone knows that the "oath" of marraige is worthless.. It carries as much clout as a turd in the street..

That's why people don't believe in marriage anymore though. I said how things should be, not how things are. I should just become dictator and I'd fix things. :P

People marry for all manner of reasons, one oath does not suit all! That is why no matter what the oath is, many folk will still not take it. Even if it was worth anything, the deal is not always a good one, and time does change people..

If I take a mortgage on a house and I get fired afterwards, it doesn't mean that I would be able to just void the contract and say tough luck to the bank. It's the same concept. You break it, you pay. Marriage has any legitimacy only if people are forced to abide by their promises. With no-fault, it's simply a joke. The only ways you'd get out of marriage if I wrote the family law is by:
1)Your spouse breaks their pledges and you sue for divorce and get most of the marriage assets, custody and whatnot.
2)Both of you agree on splitting and how to divide their assets, children and whatever. If you don't and one files for divorce without the other one being at fault, they veto their right to custody and marriage assets.
    3)Your spouse dies.
And I'd also do away with child support and welfare for out of wedlock mothers. Child support would be only for women who were faulted(and by this I mean, beaten up and things like this, not him not putting the toilet seat down) by their husbands in the marriage and they divorced. Besides that, none whatsoever.

sounds interesting and not at all unreasonable.. But, where is the incentive to marry for the gent who likes a bit on the side with his main dish? These men being amongst the most common "marraigeale" males.. Interestingly, you have not specified what the pledges should be, shall I assume that you believe they should be variable?

Here is my idea of a good marraige contract I could sign up to..

I head the family and make the rules in the family..

Then, I may lay a few of them out if asked! But generally speaking, it is good to make much up as you go along!

Well, marriage isn't for everyone - by people wanting the social approval of being married and none of the responsibilities we got here.
