Just wanted to introduce myself, I am middle aged male who experienced the outrageous male bashing of the early '90's. I still constantly take on the local feminist cabal in any forum I can, but love the ability to do this on a global scale cause of the internet :-). My aim though is for reasonable equality and don't care for misogyny much either. Xavier :-)

Great to meet you... how did you stumble our way? You seem like a person similar to myself from what little you've wrote so far...

Another voice. Welcome.
I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]()

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. Marx, I stumbled here by Googling 'misandry' KellyMac, re: " I'm curious. What does equality mean to you? " Great question! and only properly answered by a 5000 line essay. In essence fairness in respect to gender issues. Fairness itself takes some defining of course and reasonable person's view of fairness depends on their view of the World,. My view of the World sees 2 genders who are the same in many ways and also different in others (thankfully, what a boring World otherwise). In evaluating fairness these differences should be accounted for in a mutually considerate way. In essence I am a humanist. Sounds dead easy!!!, so why Gender Wars, Misogyny and Misandry. Firstly there are others who subscribe to different World views, eg some believe in "The Patriarchy and historical Male oppression of Women" I consider this simplistic but easily understood as an idea and appealing to many who benefit from the theory. Hence its popularity in some circles. Others for instance, mainly extreme religious groups, see women as close to property, I consider this just bizarre. Some say genders are pure socially constructions and others say they are biological, we need non-advocacy scientists to sort that one out. Compounding different definitions of fairness is tribal instinct which is one of the strengths and the weakness of the human species. One of its weaknesses is we tend to accept ideas more readily that are beneficial to ourselves or our group/tribe than those that are not. We also tend to associate with those who have similar views to ourselves and when people with similar views discuss and issue they tend to veer to the extreme view point. Once we have strong views it takes a lot to move us from that opinion, especially when it benefits us. Perhaps the first step to agreeing on what fairness is is to do away with the 2 tribes and have one called Human Being whose members are different some ways, (even with the genders), and just start talking to each without being self serving idiots. Your question was a tough one, there for start is my brain dump of the top of my head which went beyond the question a bit, (i love to spout )Xavier ps for Gods sake get the service provider to add Misandry to its spellcheck

Greetings Xavier, thanks for joining! ~ A man needs a woman like a lion needs a stove. ~ ~ Women deserve only equal opportunity, not equal outcomes. ~ ~ Men are not collectively "guilty" of anything. ~ ~ Never needing to be pregnant is a blessing. ~ ~ Feminist ideology “men have to respect women, but women have no reason to respect men” ~ ~ Everybody makes choices, and nobody should be entitled to special treatment because of those choices. Equal results based on unequal treatment amounts to no kind of equality at all. ~

Howdy Xavier.
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.
