Pati, Patni and ten thousand
“Beat your drunken husband if he touches you. The government will pay you a
Rs 1,000 reward. The more you beat him the better as you can get up to Rs 10, 000,” he told a gathering of women, Mahila Sadassu, a government programme in Kurnool. The minister urged women to get their drunken, abusive husbands on to the streets and beat them in full view of the public so that it encourages other women, whose men return home after squandering their day’s earnings in toddy shops.

Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Re: Pati, Patni and ten thousand
Was he high when he proposed this??
That's one of the stupidest things I ever heard.
If he really is beating her, how in the world is she supposed to get him out into the street and beat him? The logistics alone are impossible.
I think it follows that if she is able to get him into the road and beat him, even with him being drunk, then perhaps she was the abuser in the first place?
I found it interesting that the first place some people went was that the couple would scheme just to get the money. Maybe so...in which case, neither one of them was a drunken abuser.
In any case, what a complete waste of time and energy this whole idea is.

I understand drinking to cope with the stress. However, there might be less stress if they didn't have to wonder where the grocery money was coming from because they spent it all on alcohol. I know that was the case when I quit drinking.
Not that I work as a bottom class laborer, but I think the point is valid. Money is the biggest cause of strife in families today.

They should make more effort to understand the west? The arrogance is truly astonishing!
Hell's Bells! In rural Indian villages, landless peasants gather round to watch tacky Hollywood movies with Hindi subtitles on the single communal TV that's powered by an imported generator.
Subsistence farmers, grubbing for a poor living, day after day to feed their families, who watch 'Hollywierd' garbage for the special effects, should make more effort to understand - while the decadent west goes its own sweet way??
Do you and I live on the same planet?

Society in the West is deteriorating pretty badly anyway. No point in understanding Western culture after the '50s

Re: Pati, Patni and ten thousand
Sounds like a perfect way to increase domestic violence first against men so the women can make money off it, then against women when the men get drunk and violent and jealous because the wife is making money by abusing them.
Eastern or Western cultures? This is just plain stupid and will be corrupted just for da money.

It's all fun and games until someone gets chopped up.
