Men Are Smarter For centuries men believed themselves to be smarter than the fairer sex, who they felt were only equipped for wifely duties.
Now a study has revealed that the male of the species is actually more intelligent - but he's more stupid as well.

When scientists measured the intelligence of more than 2,500 brothers and sisters, they found a disproportionate number of men in both the top 2 per cent and the bottom 2 per cent.

This, by the way, is not 'news'. It has been known for decades that there are more men both at the top of the IQ scale, and at the bottom of it. Furthermore, at the highest points there will be many more men than women. And this, of course, is just one of the many reasons why in the higher echelons of business, government, finance, academia - wherever! - you will likely find many more men; and, indeed, why men will earn more than women.

And this, needless to say, is not the result of discriminaion against women by men in the workplace.

This is not news, and I'm not entirely sure what the point of it is. So what if men are at the top and bottom of the intelligence scale?

Most people, men and women alike, are in the middle.

2%. There's a bit of accuracy for you.

So let's be accurate in what we are saying. Men are not smarter than women.

Harry may be smart. Well, I know for a fact that he is.

I definitly am.

But 'Men' ?

2% of men are smarter than 99% of everyone else (work it out). That 99% includes all the other men, who differ from women in intelligence not a jot overall.

That's in general. In keeping with accuracy, every other chap you bump into is thicker than the average chap. Women too. Put 10 guys in a room and statistically five are thick. Three of the five are thicker than two short planks. Advice: mix with the other five!

Go into a nightclub or a strip-club or a dog racing meet and the odds are even greater. The average IQ of men at a cock-fighting meeting is barely above that of the chickens.

Men haven't gotten ahead simply because of Patriarchal or Paternalistic power and the automatic priviledge that accrues therefrom.

We're talking about very few people here (persons at the top of the intelligence scale) yet, there are by far more men in positions of authority than there are women, more than what can be accounted for by intelligence alone. So, though I am not claiming discrimination against women as the cause, I am not willing to concede that it's men's intelligence that explains this, either.

But if it makes you feel superior to be male, that's fine with me.

You are correct Tera that intelligence alone does not explain the fact that men occupy more positions of power and authority than women. Indeed, many such chaps have only modest intelligence. Just look at Australia's Prime Minister, Chairman Mousey Kev, the Great Leader. He is a mental friggin' midget.

No; one has to consider that more men 'step up' than do women.
