I'm sure many will recall this event... I do. Long... I couldn't view it all though as for some reason, it kept stalling on me. Here's a small honourary youtube file on the bravery too.

Does anyone know the name of that brave man? Quote:
Minority cultures, languages aren't really upheld. For example the language Cantonese is branded as a "dialect" even though it qualifies as a full language. It's kinda like as different as English is to Spanish. Other old languages such as Manchu are also not adequately or not at all preserved. It threatens and bullies unofficially independent nations such as Taiwan with war and false claims. There was also a brief war with Vietnam: the Sino-Vietnamese War in February-March 1979. Much of China's economic growth is due to large quantities of foreign investment, much more exports compared to imports and keeping their currency undervalued. China has many internal problems and its recent history contains many negative signs. As with all empires they will fall eventually, including this one.

I agree that China has many internal problems and it won't be all plain sailing for them. Even if the communist regime falls, you should expect the country to continue to have the same types of problems: corruption, bureaucracy, lack of creativity and flexibility, low confidence in government, deeply ingrained feelings of hostility between different ethnic groups. I believe they don't even have a common spoken language, the common written language it seems is pronounced differently everywhere. The problem is that China has been a collectivist society for a very long time. Collectivism wasn't introduced by the Communists, they just added the hysteria. The problem with collectivism in my opinion is that it the individual cannot rely on the collective to reciprocate. That's why individuals tend to serve themselves first (secretly) and only pretend to serve the collective. | ||||

There are loads of "dialects" there. Many of which are actually full fledged languages by themselves. Also the far majority of citizens in China are from the ethnic group called "han". However there may be a certain hidden amount of people who don't want to state that they are not han ethnically or such due to fear of discrimination. There's been "Ethnocide" for many decades in China. For example: a couple of decades ago there was a majority of ethnic Mongols in Outer Mongolia since that's historically one of the core lands of Mongolia. However many ethnic chinese were moved in that area in order to take over that land and turn them into chinese. So now Mongols are sadly a minority in Outer Mongolia and they have to learn Mandarin in schools etc. This is forceful chinafication and "Ethnocide". It's because non-chinese, minority cultures and languages are purposefully not protected, preserved, upheld or adequately. In the past china has been ruled by non-ethnically chinese for many centuries. Here's some information about that: Quote:

The reason china has large foriegn investment etc is the same reason that corporations ever choose.. massive cheap labour pool.. the sex ratio males to females is something ridiculous like 1.3 : 1.. Many young men have no hope whatsoever of being in a "normal" relationship with a women in that country.. However, thanks to the amazing feminising effects of soya based protien sources, they probably dont mind that much!!

Also keep in mind robot workers which will be more widely available and useable in the future. They can work day and night, 24/7. That can cause problems, but real men should be able to live without them. ~ A man needs a woman like a lion needs a stove. ~ ~ Women deserve only equal opportunity, not equal outcomes. ~ ~ Men are not collectively "guilty" of anything. ~ ~ Never needing to be pregnant is a blessing. ~ ~ Feminist ideology “men have to respect women, but women have no reason to respect men” ~ ~ Everybody makes choices, and nobody should be entitled to special treatment because of those choices.
