Very good post. Thanks for sharing this. I practice Shito Ryu karate myself. Though I am only a yellow belt.
It is a shame that most men have lost the desire to learn the warrior arts.

Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969)
When I was a child, I remember watching a show called "You Asked For It". Some viewer had inquired about a little old man from Japan who was reputed to be able to take on several young bucks, all bigger than him, and throw them around like rag dolls. The show's producers found the fellow they were looking for and got permission to film a demonstration of him in action.
I got my first chance to watch Aikido being used, by the Master. It was a performance that later on became his trademark ... a little old guy with white hair and beard, bald on the top, slapping guys to the mat as though they were wet laundry and laughing while he was doing it. Sometimes it looked as though he barely touched them. At the time of the show, he was in his late seventies.

Morihei Ueshiba is the story of a guy that trained in the original Japanese martial arts (before Judo) and mastered them. He was also on a spiritual quest at the same time, studying religious systems native to Japan. As he approached his sixtieth birthday, he saw the martial arts and the spiritual disciplines as two sides of the same coin and proceeded to blend them. The result was Aikido.

There are now several styles of this martial art, all of which were spun off
from Ueshiba's original teachings. Schools are found all over the world.
Steven Seagal popularized it in the 1980's.

Here is rare footage of his former student Koichi Tohei - founder of Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido:

I was considering taking this up. One of the local universities have a good club. I just need the money and the time now.
How many feminists does it take to change a lightbulb? Trick question; feminists can't change anything.
Martial Arts should be a fundemantal component of the MRM. Great training for mind body and spirit.
Z- How do you perform these arts if you've never learned? Or are you saying that your fighting style is the best appropriation of these arts you can manage?
If you're ever in CO I'd be more than happy to train you a bit, I've done Muay Thai for 3 years and Freestyle Jiu-Jitsu for 5.

Yes! The martial arts should be an essential part of Mens Rights Movement. They separate the men from the boys. They also separate the boys from the girls (tee hee hee)!
