A former law student who cried rape because she was ‘too ashamed’ to tell her family she had been kicked out of university was locked up for two years yesterday.


Aisha Mather, 19, ripped her tights, overturned a coffee table and pulled down curtains in an attempt to convince police she had been attacked at knifepoint and raped in her home.


She believed this would give her an excuse to leave her course and move back in with her parents, and kept up the pretence for eight days – even after police arrested a man who matched her detailed description of the tattooed black ‘rapist’.


Three other men were questioned during a major investigation involving forensic examinations and door-to-door inquiries.


Nottingham Crown Court heard that Mather had been studying law at Nottingham Trent University but had mounting debts and spent ‘more time socialising than studying’.


She was ordered to leave after failing her first year exams. Phillipa Ellis, defending, said Mather was ‘too ashamed to tell her parents what was going on, and made up a story to get out of Nottingham without having to incur further debt’."

Got to start somewhere... Judges better follow suit and actually raise the sentences as to fit the seriousness of the crime.

I believe that eventually false accusations will not be tolerated by the public and the courts will begin punishing false accusers harshly. How long till that happens? I dunno but I see that we are moving in that direction.

I hope they start making false rape accusations a felony that carries a 10 year jail sentence. False rape accusations are a complete waste of resources much like gender studies.

Gradually increasing media exposure must someday herald such moment. The public opinion is heavily influenced by what the media presents us. The internet has given us so much power. The power of public opinion can be seen in the comments sections on news sites and message boards across the internet. The media could ignore dissenting voices before the internet but not so any longer. Everytime CNN runs a male bashing article for Fathers Day, for example, commentors push back.

I both laughed and cried when I read this.
Reasons being, a woman that failed badly as a lawyer (read bottom feeder), made up a story that implicated a number of innocent men, to HER line of BS.
Seriously, when she gets out in a couple of months (parole is a LOT easier on women), she is going to have to move down south and work either as a waitress or a pole-dancer.

That was my first reaction. It's not much compared to what those in prison under false rape claims go through, but it is better than the usual slap-on-the-wrist, given that there would have been a sentencing discount for early admission of guilt.

For some reason this 19 year old adult will serve her sentence in a young offenders institute, not a full prison.

The judge's comments include:

‘You had been playing the fool at university, got yourself into debt, and wanted your parents to dig you out without having to admit the truth. Your behaviour was utterly despicable.’

It is usual for an accused rapist to have his (always a 'his') face in the papers, so this woman should have her face also made public.

Two years is stiff sentence.

My ex got six months for assault with a deadly weapon AND attempted rape.

I am thinking that she got the sentence because she went to such great lengths to try to con the police. Cops don't appreciate that sort of thing.
