NH GOP Pushes For Warrants Before DV Arrests

The article is biased and misandric, but the news is good!

NH GOP Backs Pro-Wife Beater Laws

It’s difficult to understand why even Republicans would be in favor of laws that make it harder for police to arrest men who beat up their wives, girlfriends or other women, but apparently that is the case in New Hampshire where Republican legislators want to turn back the clock to make it impossible for police to arrest men at the scene of a domestic abuse incident even if there is probable cause that the man living there brutalized the woman he is living with, unless the officer actually witnessed the victim being battered. Instead the officer would have to leave the scene to get an arrest warrant leaving the battered woman alone with the man (husband, domestic partner, family member or stranger) who beat the crap out of her. They also want to pass a law to make it harder for female victims to enforce protection orders against their assailants. Sounds like something out of a Twilight Zone episode, but its all perfectly true...

Re: NH GOP Pushes For Warrants Before DV Arrests

    Hi Dylan,

For your reading pleasure, here's what retired Lt. Richard Davis from the Brockton, MA police department has to say on the matter of DV and law enforcement officers' responses to it. This page contains a list of articles written by him.

Richard Davis, ALM - Understanding Domestic Violence

I put my trust in a LEO who has had front-line experience with DV incidents as opposed to a raving misandrist.

Besides, I think the NH GOP is much smarter and more politically savvy than to "turn back the clock" on abuse victims. That would be total political suicide. So there has to be more to the bill than what that article is letting on.
