Funny you should say that. I rented a Ferrari 308GTS in 1990 after grad school. Budget Rental Exotics in North Hollywood. It was either that or take my girlfriend to Vegas. I had already been to Vegas. I wanted to do something for my own ego, after being trapped inside a library since age 15 (I homeschooled and graduated HS at 15). I spent a grand to drive it for a week. I spent $400 on gas for the week, and that was when gas was cheap! Spent another $100 to have the governor disabled and re-enabled before wheeling it back to the rental (almost forgot!). I think about $400 for the rental and about $600 for insurance. No way was I going to pass on the damage waiver this time!

The memories of the people that car attracted live long into the future. The parties, the girls, the cops... hey, I was 22, a JD in my hand, young, dumb and full of... anyway, I had a great time and returned to my senses about manhood after the week was over.

Well, you have me beat. We've got 8, and one in the oven. Not sure how much farther we'll go. When I hit 50, I might get tired of the girls' whining and the boys' squealing, but we'll see... that's why I have a soundproof shop, library and studio! Plumbing still works on both of us and the older ones help mom alot, so no good reason to stop. Here's a nice finger for all environmentalists who like to bore big families about wasting resources!

Totally agree. As owner of a Shelby Mustang that has outsurvived a couple of marriages, that car gives me more pleasure.

I have a friend that bought a Ferrari to resell it(that's how I got to drive a Ferrari the first time :P). I miss being able to leave as the light turns green like this:


Anyway, my friend nicknamed that Ferrari "the leg spreader". lol. What was hilarious is that he didn't get insurance considering he bought it to resell it and bent one of the rims and it cost him a fortune to fix it before selling it. He still made a tiny profit though.
