A teenager wanted by police for having unprotected sex with at least two partners without disclosing her positive HIV-status has been taken in custody.

in naming the teenager, 17, and distributing her photograph in the interest of public safety. Shortly after her name and photograph went public, a third complainant came forward to police.

Det. Barb Clover, from the Edmonton Police Service's sexual assault section, said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Clover also said that anyone who has engaged in sexual activity with the accused should seek medical attention.

The teenage Alberta girl accused of having unprotected sex without disclosing that she is HIV-positive was denied bail Tuesday on two charges of aggravated sexual assault.

A judge in Edmonton ordered her kept in custody and imposed a publication ban on evidence presented at the hearing, which is automatic when the defence requests it.
