slightly off topic i know, but the phrase "white british" in the above article really pisses me off.
any form of any kind i ever have to fill in denies me the right to be what i am, my closest option is "white british" when i am in fact ENGLISH.

Nivek, interesting comment. Do many English people (Scottish, Welsh) feel the same way? I, in a similar vein, hate being asked on forms if I am "White, non-Hispanic". It disgusts me when a minority group gets to dominate our culture in such a way, not to mention the "dial one for English" BS. Why does everything in America have to revolve around Hispanics? Hardware, electronics and department store chains have department signs in English and Spanish. English is the language of America, not Spanish. Also, there are plenty of other languages represented by immigrants and other foreigners in the US, e.g. Russian, Chinese, etc.? What makes Spanish speakers so special?

Regarding the topic, I bet he'll get a harsher sentence than Naomi Campbell, who not only called BA employees things such as "fucking White honkie" and "White bitch", but spit on and hit them. Community service for such actions at an airport in this day and age seems rather light. Here in America, you can be arrested at an airport just for question the TSA people.

yes i think a lot of Welsh,Irish and scots are also concernd about their national identities.
some years ago i saw a map of europe where the word England was not included, just British isles Scotland Ireland Wales,
during the last (soccer) world cup held in Germany the flag of every nation involved was raised in the center of Berlin ... bet you can't guess wich flag was missing LOL ...

the flag under my name is the county flag of derbyshire (a county in the midlands of england) a few years ago radio derby asked listeners to vote for a flag to represnt the county, this was the winner.
the colours represent the green countryside and the peak district rivers and reservoirs, and the Tudor rose was awarded to the county by Henry Tudor in the 1470,s.

You need to open the quote like this:[quote] and close it like this [/quote].

The opening tag often has a user name and post id in it like [QUOTE=nivek;83997]. You don't have to include that but you can leave it if it's already there.

I suspect the security guards were more 'genuinely' insulted by the "wannabe cops" part, than honky.

From my recollection it's a derogatory term levelled at white people by blacks. It originates in America at the turn of the last century whereby black workers referred to Hungarian immigrant workers as honky.
