So while discrimination is subtly acknowledged, the only supposed shortfall of men is found in the veterinary profession, where a lack of men fisting the arses of cattle is given precedence above more widespread and systemic discriminatory issues? Says it all really.

Across UK universities, 984,000 female undergraduates are studying for degrees, compared to 713,000 male. The gap is expected to widen in future years as new government rules make it easier for universities to recruit students with A-level grades of AAB or better, more of whom are female.

What about this glaring disparity as a starting point? What unbridled outrage would be created if newspapers led with a headline "Female undergraduates shortchanged as men outnumber them by more than a quarter of a million."

Diane Houston, a psychology professor and graduate school dean at Kent University, said that whilst boys may be disadvantaged at school, women still faced a glass ceiling in the workplace.

Despite all the academic dominance, female privilege and being propped up by the state, is it unsurprising some selfish feminist cunt can't resist trotting out the well-rehearsed propaganda?

There won't be any change to the sexist and bigoted academic system until the only men left on campus are cleaners, security guards and maintenance.

It occurs to me that the very existence of all this special privilege for women in education is going to hold women back. People who have had degrees conferred on them partly because of their gender (or race, age or anything else) are not people who are going to be able to compete in the workplace. Then again, I suppose they don't need to with laws such as those forcing companies to accept these under-achievers into boardrooms.

I hope the Royal Veterinary College, in attempts to get more men involved, don't lower standards but instead stick to simply promoting the career to men and pressing for educational improvements to increase the available pool of men.

In the US, in terms of elementary and secondary education (along with banking, retail, public bureaucracies and small-business administration, to name a few) we are there, even long past there. Where my daughter attends first grade, in a right-wing cultural desert where the idea of women actually taking on leadership along with their entitlements still hides behind the cardboard cutout of the male "head of household" (meaning when something goes wrong there is still a man to blame), there is not a man on the payroll other than as you point out, janitors and maintenance men. But those guys wax a mean floor and deliver a high-quality result changing that flag, let me assure you.

But, before we wallow too long in our demographic outrage, let's remember that, globally speaking, ALL the accomplishments of the white male have been undertaken as an ethnic minority, the good ones and the not-so-good ones. If white men ever had anything to offer in terms of both civilizational model and personal merit, being outnumbered has never prevented that before, and being in the majority in a minority of insular and stagnant communities has not done our place in the world much long-term good anyway. This has tended to put the mediocrities, the fanatics and the shameless manipulators among us out front, based on nothing but their illusory staus as a majority in places where other ethnic groups have been genocided and removed by force, and I have never been particularly proud of any "special status" coming to me only because there are more of our dunderheads to be counted in a census than anyone else's dunderheads.

The whole idea of special status is really at the heart of the basic issue I take with feminism. If submitting to history and the birth rates of other races puts me in a position where my special status is no longer an issue, maybe my credibility in arguing that others, such as women seeking affirmative action in order to sit on corporate boards, are only seeking entitlement themselves instead of offering merit in trade for individual status, may actually be better served by it.

Keep up the good work, and if you and I disagree, and out in the open without anyone getting humiliated or affirmative-acted over it, I think that makes a far more constructive point than the diatribe and denunciation many fall prey to.

Actually, I noticed more that the statistical evidence of males doing worse in schools becomes a "maybe" while all the female privileges that helps women to work wherever they want and whenever they want adds up to a continuation of the presumption that there is unquestionably a glass ceiling (for women, of all things).

As a man who's spent years making his way by putting roofs over people's heads, I happen to know that ceilings imply the presence of a roof above them keeping everyone safe. Maybe if career women had a better picture of what it took to shelter them they wouldnt be so critical of having a ceiling.

And it's not as if men don't hit barriers of class, race, local affiliation, club membership, sexual orientation, veteran status (everybody knows they're all walking time bombs, right?), source of their degrees or lack of one, and yes, gender.

The glass ceiling mantra is a standard feminist whine, and I have at least one more thing to say on it:

Yes, it's tough facing a glass ceiling, isn't it? Being 'forced' to take career breaks in your thirties, to spend years with the kids you love, whilst your partner sacrifices time with whom. Having your partner provide for you, for years. Getting maternity pay, for no work, for months. Working safer jobs, with fewer hours, and less stress.

I don't know how they cope, I really don't.....

Why does it never occur to these people that the reason more women aren't in high-powered jobs is because we aren't set up that way? As a rule, more men have the kind of ambition, drive, and willingness to sacrifice a personal life that are required to get there than women do.
