A mother who carried an under-dressed baby outside in freezing temperatures has been ordered to take a parenting course.
Kerri Jean King, 26, was sentenced Wednesday in Bridgewater provincial court after pleading guilty to criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
King was charged after someone saw her carrying her nine-month-old girl outside on a frigid Dec. 27.
It was –9 C and 4:30 a.m., and the baby wasn't dressed for the weather, police were told.
The little girl wasn't responsive when officers arrived. She was treated in hospital for injuries to one hand.
King was given a sentence of 18 months' probation. She must also undergo counselling for substance abuse, in addition to attending the parenting course.

The sentence for a man doing the same stupidity, will involve the taking of the child into care at the very least.
