Police blasted for hiring fashion stylist to help female officers code their uniforms
From The Daily Mail:
Police blasted for hiring fashion stylist to help female officers
colour code their uniforms
A police force has been criticised after paying for female officers
to receive fashion advice from a Gok Wan-style expert.
Sussex Police and Evolve, the force's female support group, have
arranged a day-long seminar to offer staff expert style tips and
guidance on 'colour-coding' their uniform.
The event, scheduled for next month, will run during regular
duty-time, meaning officers will have to be absent from their
normal shift work to attend.
As well as offering style advice, female officers have also been invited to attend talks on confidence, fitness, nutrition and even gynaecology.
The event has prompted fierce criticism from pro-feminist groups and many taxpayers.
Susie Squire, political director of the Taxpayers Alliance, said: 'While it is important to give female police officers the support they need, this seminar should be focused on effective ways of fighting crime, rather than fashion tips or gynaecology.'
Kate Smurthwaite, who writes for feminist website the F-Word, added: 'Ultimately taxpayers want safer streets, not more beautiful police officers.
'There's nothing wrong with having a day to discuss female issues and helping women become more assertive, but I think it's pretty stupid for them to think that because they are women they need to appreciate clothes.
'It's difficult to really know what message the police are trying to put across.'
Superintendent Jane Rhodes of Sussex Police, the officer who organised the event, refused to be drawn on how much it is costing, but defended the seminars as a wise use of police resources.
Supt Rhodes said: 'I think it will improve working conditions for women staff.
'The seminar is aimed at promoting health, well-being, confidence and self-esteem as well as addressing female specific health issues which all impact on personal development and retention of staff.
'This event represents a cost effective means of effectively training, retaining, informing, supporting and developing our staff.'Subscribe to my accounts on DocStoc, Scribd, Twitter and YouTube.

Re: Police blasted for hiring fashion stylist to help female officers code their unif
So officers now HAVE to take a day to attend some fashion thingy in favor of doing their job? Ridiculous. I thought police were supposed to be out there to make sure streets are safe and all that stuff...
This Jane person probably thinks red nose day once a year isn't enough, so let's go turn cops into fashion clowns under the guise of working conditions. It's simply nonsense, uniforms/work clothing is there for a functional reason, not to look pretty or good.
By the way, am I alone on being stunned femminists recognizes the sheer stupidity of this as well?

It's good to see some feminists can agree with us on the sheer stupidity of this move... Mind you, I look back and see why so many (men and women) of the past were against the idea of women joining the police... look what's happening.

Re: Police blasted for hiring fashion stylist to help female officers code their unif
I'm glad to hear that female Police Officers are earning their salaries; as funded by the taxpayer. Sadly for us all, criminals won't agree to taking time out from committing crime, whilst this absurd waste of public funding takes place.
Quote from The article
I guess I was somewhat naive and optimistic, in assuming that female Police Officers, paid to fight crime, wouldn't have any issues with their confidence; in reading this, however, I most certainly start to have issues with mine - in their ability to do their work, that is.
Quote from The article
I guess fitness and nutrition are applicable only to FEMALE Police Officers, then? Or is it the flip-side of the lowered-physical fitness standards, that will have helped to secure many female Police Officers their places in the force, in the first place. My confidence isn't growing, as I read the article.
Quote from The article
Confidence just deteriorated furthermore, and rapidly.
Quote from The article
Far be it from me to agree with a feminist, but I think I very well may do, on this one occasion.
Quote from The article
Ah, yes, she had to unnecessarily make something a gender issue; I knew that it would merely be a case of 'right conclusion, WRONG reasoning'.
Quote from The article
Yet MORE time and money being devoted to women's health. Women outlive men by an average of six years, yet, as always, it's a certain gender which requires attention paid to their health issues.
Quote from The article
If it is cost effective to allocate extra spending to women, over men, then it can safely be concluded that it is NOT cost-effective to employ women for the jobs, in the first place. I'm sure that, if enough female Police Officers voiced disapproval towards such an event, that it would not go ahead; the fact that it is makes me wonder if very many did, however.
Quote from The article
Seems that, even in the capacity of Police Officers, women are high maintenance."There are lies, damned lies, and there are feministic statistics". Myself
"Behind every bitch, is a FEMINIST who made her that way....". Myself

I see where your coming from... Common sense and reasoning used to be much more common back then before this female privilige bogus became a social and political standard. Back then and now also, people object to women joining the police because it would mean lowering the bar as far as physical condition goes, but many would be dumbfounded to see the police corps becoming a fashion corps.
With some sarcasm, the only thing i can credit femminism for (with a grudge) is their ability to directly or indirectly create situations that leave me dumbfounded over and over again.

Re: Police blasted for hiring fashion stylist to help female officers code their unif
Superintendent Jane Rhodes of Sussex Police, the officer who organised the event, who was promoted on merit from a women-only short list, said that further day-long courses were being planned.
These will include Feng Shiu as a means to ensuring that police cars are fitted with the most effectively placed sirens and radios; astrological chart-reading to anticipate criminal activity and help in profiling; tarot card reading to help in interviewing suspected criminals; and next month an already fully booked course on crystals to wear to ward off evil when on police raids.
Further programs will focus on skank-wear for undercover officers, with special attention on how to wear stockings and suspenders as this has sadly gone out of fashion in todays empowered, thong & tights-wearing younger policewomen. Free red lippy will be handed out, confiscated from a gang of thugettes in Hackney. A guest speaker slot has been filled by Dita Von Teese who is actually a Detective Inspector in the Warwickshire constabulary.
"We are budget-conscious", said Supt. Rhodes. 'Sadly, to ensure cost effective spending, male officers are not invited. They have proven problematic in the past. They drink too much coffee and eat all the buscuits and every one thinks he is Gene Hunt"When in need of a drink to fill the soul

What's there to 'color code' anyway? Isn't the whole uniform one color?

How many times have policewomen been 'sent home' for wearing a black bra with a white shirt?
One colour, Tera?
Regulation knickers come in four colours and careful planning is needed. There's one for patrolling in cars and another for 'walking the beat'. Raids on city offices always go wrong when low-life dive raid underwear is mistakenly worn.
And there is ALWAYS one person in the locker room who just doesn't get it !When in need of a drink to fill the soul

Re: Police blasted for hiring fashion stylist to help female officers code their unif
Reminds me of some low budget reality tv show from a few weeks back - you know where they just have some cameras following the polcie around.
Some guy was being arrested by two female cops. He was protesting and resisting slightly but clearly was willing to give himself up and not in the mood for a fight. However, he slowly realised just how weak and out of shape they were and realsied they weren't up to teh job.
He escaped using barely put any effort whatsoever - it was essentially a reluctant sort of reluctant escape - the most comical thing you coudl imagine! He got free of them ridiculously easily then sort of slowly jogged or quickly walked off yet they failed to keep up!
Eventually they had to call on some male police officers to come and do the job properly and he was arrested instantly.
